Thanks -- I actually have a few where the drawn line is straight because
there's only one compass direction given in the entire deed... But, your
suggestion makes sense for whatever it is I need to determine.
Likewise, I know I can start with a modern map of the area and work
backward 200 years with layers of subdivision. But, that's not nearly as
much of a challenge!

A lot of time when a property was split, the deed just says to go "far enough
in one direction to make 20 acres". You could try algerbra or trig, but I
find it easier to guess at a length, put it in DeedMapper, and then adjust
the number until the area comes out right.
