Hi Payne, As before, our Edward Daniel was a member of Matrimony Baptist Church from 1776
to 1799 located in Rockingham, NC (adjacent to Virginia border). He was also in Henry
County, Virginia before moving to Grainger County, Tennessee. We have several DNA matches
but they are not from previous generations before Edward. So still don’t know his parents.
My newest theory: Roger Daniel and Ann Carey to John Daniel and Elizabeth Williams to
William Daniel and Deborah Garland to Pierce Daniel and Mary Bailey. Pierce Daniel had two
known children, John Daniel born 1765 in Virginia and died in 1840 in Harlan, Kentucky.
(WE DO MATCH JOHN DANIEL VIA FAMILY TREE YDNA). He had a daughter, Margaret Peggy Daniel
Born 1775 in Botetourt, Virginia and died in 1850 in Claiborne County, TN. She married
Andrew Drury Lee born 1770 in Goochland, Virginia and died in Claiborne (adjacent to
Grainger County, TN). Some of their descendants were neighbors of my Grandmother Johnnie
So my Daniels did immigrate from Virginia to NC with the Mayes, McCarty, and Lacy
families....Like you, would love to solve the puzzle....Thanks, Betty White Martin

Subject: [DANIEL] Brunswick Daniels.
On our last outing only a few nice souls bothered to assist me with any answer. Let’s
You may or may not know that with Kevin’s help we established that my Ambrose Daniel was
not a Caroline Daniel Co., Va. person. Okay, now where does his family go. It is fairly
certain that Ambrose Daniel was a Brunswick Co., Va., connection, and in 1786 he along
with Peter Daniel of Warren County North Carolina were on the same census. That being said
one might expect that several Daniel families would come out of Brunswick into North
Carolina, say to Halifax, Warren, and Rowan Co., NC? A clinker comes with a Daniel named
Joseph who was born in 1725 in Brunswick Co.,Va ., and that is where he stayed until
My question is, who was the father of this Joseph Daniel (He had some contact with a
Thomas Daniel who shows up in two families of Brunswick but with no dates to help out). I
do not believe he was an immigrant Daniel.
So where do the Daniels of Brunswick Come from, let’s look at this way:
Immigrant Daniel of Brunswick with sons - Hugh Daniel, John Daniel Sr., and Peter Daniel
Sr. So where have all the records gone? There is not Joseph to fit fitting into this
I know there are some researchers, who have not passed on yet, with an interest in the
disposition of the various families who did migrate to NC from Va.,
It would be a shame if the Daniel-List aged out, maybe because they think all the fact
are in. I have been recruiting my grand daughter to see if she might be interested but
the task my take some time etc.
