"They say" - Sion was a son of Ambrose DANIEL. Maybe Payne has a comment on
this. Did you notice the Brittian JONES in this bunch? One of Ambrose's
sons was a Brittian DANIEL. Sounds like the same bunch to me.
One comment on the HINKLEYS. They are generally a New England (MA or ME)
family. I have them up there all tied up with the WHITNEYS (Eli's family)
but I am sure some of them came south, too. My wife is a descendant of both
families. Her bunch headed down to NY, OH and IL and some became Mormons
and went with Brigham YOUNG to the Promised Land. Joseph SMITH was married
to a Sarah WHITNEY, as I remember and Brigham YOUNG married her after he was
There are a lot of New England families that moved south in the 1750 time
frame. My DAME and WEEKS families being just two of them. The DAMES came
from Dame's Point, Newington, RI to King & Queen and later Middlesex County,
VA. The WEEKS migrated from Falmouth, Barnstable County, MA to Swansboro
Onslow County, NC and then down to GA. Both the DAMES and WEEKS families
end up in east-central GA in the 1800 time frame, all RS.

So my current conclusion on Randol of Rowan is that he is of Brunswick
