We have a few more details on this branch of the DANIELL family. As I have
stated more than once, it is my opinion the DANIELL family of Emanuel County
is part of the DANIELL family of Burke and later Oconee County, GA The
parent of this family was William B. DANIEL, Jr. (1767-1831), who was a
Baptist preacher, sheriff and Clerk of Emanuel County, and a son of William
B. DANIEL, Sr. (1743-1840) of Bogart, Oconee County, GA. According to the
DANIELL family, William, Jr., married Elizabeth DAVIS, sister of Benjamin
DAVIS of Burke County, GA. One of their sons that we know of was John Raven
DANIELL of Emanuel County, GA.
We know from census information that John R. DANIEL was born ABT 1790 and
married an Elizabeth LNU ABT 1810. They had a child named, Mary Ann Jane
DANIELL born 1 Dec 1814, who married Rev. Jordan FLANDERS (1793-1878), a
Methodist preacher and also Clerk in Emanuel County, GA. Rev. FLANDERS was
the son of Francis Richard FLANDERS RS-NC (1756-1802) and Nancy JORDAN,
daughter of George JORDAN and Patience WARREN, and sister of Celia JORDAN
who married Samuel TARVER, III.
I have previously mentioned all of the JORDAN links to many of the families
of this area of GA. The JORDAN or JOURDAN family has its origins in Surry
County, VA, later Northampton County, NC and then, later, east-central GA.
John R. DANIELL's first wife, Elizabeth LNU, must have died by 1827 because
he then married Sarah GRIFFITH on 27 Jan 1827, according to the following
information found by Dawn.
Today I found that John R. Daniell married Sarah Griffith on the 27th of
Jan., 1827, the widow of John Griffith. She later divorced him in 1842 per
Emanuel County Courthouse records. The divorce documents begins with the
statement that she "intermarried" with him. She states that they have not
been a "couple" (so-to-speak) for 7 or 8 years and he has refused to work
for the support of the family. Who would have thought!! <grin>
