I just now am looking at Rootsweb and found your note about James "Devil Jim"
Daniel. He is my great-grandfather and is buried at Bald Knob cemetery (Devil Jim is
inscribed on his tombstone) with his name in Lawrence County, Alabama about 10 miles from
where I live in Hartselle, Alabama. He was born in 1825 and died in 1896, you can find
him on Findagrave. His first wife was Martha Haynes. My grandfather is one of their
children. He lived in Lawrence County, Alabama, about 30 miles west of Huntsville, Ala.
I have searched for his parents, and think his father's name was John. I found on One
World Tree where John was driving a wagon for the govt. taking Cherokee Indians to Govt.
settlements in Georgia and ran off with a Cherokee girl and got married in North Georgia.
That was about 1817, before the Trail of Tears, because their first child, William, was
born in 1818. William married and went to Missouri and is buried there and has lots of
ancestors there. I have a !
Daniel Family Tree on Ancestry but not doing anything right now and will be glad to send
you an invitation to it if you like. It has a lot information you will be interested in.
I hope you get this message. My email address is" fsparkman(a)gmail.com. Please
email me if you get this.
