Gwen, I looked at the Ellis Co website, but they don't seem to have an online
transcription for the Waxahatchie City Cemetery. This is all they say: Located west of
courthouse on Main St. Go to Hawkins St., and left to cemetery. Historic Marker. [ECGS
Vol. 5] (ECGS is the Ellis Co Genealogy Society.)
I have some relatives buried in nearby Ennis, and the only way we ever found the graves
was wandering through the cemetery.
We sure would like to get a male descendant of Calaway Daniel involved in our DNA project.
We already have one from Reuben Daniel, and two that I believe are from William Daniel,
eldest son of Joab & Elizabeth Daniel. What the DNA project has proven is that my
gg-grandfather Robert C. Daniel, buried in Moore Co Tenn just north of Lynchburg, was not
a brother of Reuben & William Daniel, despite what Felix W. Motlow said, and several
of my cousins still believe.
If you can help us round up a male descendant of Calaway Daniel, I will personally look at
every grave in the Waxahatchie City Cemetery until I find your great grandparents.
