Well, shoot, Mike -- every time you open a door, another dozen Daniel
come marching through!
Okay, List -- Richard's (the Elder) will dated Apr. 1782 says ".....with
increase to JAMES DANIEL and his wife Drusilla which is my
daughter........." Does this mean Drusilla is his (Richard's) natural
daughter and is married to a Daniel cousin named James? Or a
much-beloved, true-blue, like a daughter daughter-in-law (namely, wife to
a son James)?
Then I noted that James' name was missing from the named siblings in
young Richard's Will dated April 1784, but Drusilla's was there.
Then, while looking around for Thomas Terry, I found this:
"Terry Daniel witness the will of his brother James Daniel in Halifax
County, Virginia in1781 and his brother Richard's will in 1783."
If this is correct, then Richard (Elder) Daniel had a father James
Daniel, a brother James Daniel, a son James Daniel and a son-in-law,
James Daniel?? (Not to mention grandson James, David's son).
Thanks for your help, Mike - Thomas Terry was the right time frame, but I
don't think he went running off to GA right after he inherited the
greater part of the old homestead, then "getting dead" (as my daughter
used to say) in VA.
