I'll bet money that the myth of the 1785 arrival date was an old
miscalculation, adding 8 years to the Declaration of Independence. The
soldiers counted it from anywhere from the Treaty of Paris to the
constitutional conventions, so 8 years after would have been 1792-1796+,
that's what I was using to compare to John son of Woodson still being in
Wake/Granville. But the census is a vex, isn't it.

I certainly won't recognize good collateral names, so I can't i.d. the
John Daniel in the last one, but y'all will; the date is good viz. the
