Subject: [DANIEL-L] DNA results #48481
This is to introduce the new DNA test results 48481!
And a shout to Craig Rhodes and Claudia Choate - my old email addresses
for you aren't working and this applies to y'all! And hey to Sue!
The tester is the third great grandson of James Daniel (1747-1820), md.
Sally Cocke (b.1755), via their son Lewis Daniel (1783-1849, md. Martha
Lanier). James and Sally married and lived a while in Granville NC, moved
on to Caswell/Person NC, then finally moved to Trigg KY with all their
sons except Lewis who remained in Person.
This is the James Daniel who for so long was confused and melded with the
other Granville NC James Daniel (d.1786, md. Sarah LNU, but often given as
The results are a 37/37 match to the Chesley Daniel descendant #40078, and
a 25/25 match for brother Josiah (20230, 20231, one or both of which is
being upgraded). The record evidence was always very strong that James was
their brother, but I think it was always going to be clouded and seen as
less than conclusive because of the old Granville confusion and because
James moved on leaving no irrefutable connecting records. This would seem
to be the final evidence that answers the question!
The results are also a 25/25 match for tests 20707 (Robert C. Daniel) and
13086 (Benjamin Daniel); I sure hope they'll upgrade to help us know where
to keep looking for them and to strengthen this Daniel line.
However, there is still a different result for another son of William of
Middlesex, James #4163 (md. Margaret Vivion), so the happy hunt goes on
for more descendants to help solve the mystery!

numbers when they came in?)
