Wow! Thanks for all the information, Vickie. Also thanks to Betty Martin &
Marleen Van Horn.
My original posting was kind of a fishing expedition in search of my
ggg-grandfather Hiram Daniel who first appears in Rutherford Co western NC
in 1799. His son Robert C. Daniel married Nancy Kimsey about 1810 in
Buncombe Co NC, and they moved on to Tennessee. We actually know more about
the Kimsey's than the Daniel's, and the Kimsey's had migrated to western
North Carolina from Henry/Patrick Co Virginia.
I didn't figure that I would find my Hiram in the George & Edward Daniel
family. At first I thought John Daniel of Henry Co was a possibility, but it
now seems unlikely. I actually suspect these two families are related.
However, in the midst of all the information, something pops out from the
Old Testament Daniel bunch. Do you notice how Reuben has two tithables from
1785 to 1788, but only one male over 21, at least in the years 1785-1787?
Lurking here is a male born about 1767-1769, entirely consistent with our
estimates for our Hiram Daniel's birth. Reuben disappears after 1788. I'm
not sure how or if Nehemiah fits in, but he's certainly another Old
Testament name, and does not appear to be related to the George, Edward, or
Certainly no proof, but some good clues. The next time I make it to the
library, I will be looking for an estate settlement or will for Reuben
Daniel of Henry Co Va about 1789.
Thanks to everyone for their help,
