Great, keep the ball rolling. Just remember all genealogy assignments are
not cast in stone. Our theories on Ann Jones are backed by documentation but
we are solicitous of any documentation that would further prove or disprove
our position. We all have beliefs that we propose, speculations, ideas, best
guess, probabilities, but sound documentation is the ultimate goal.
Hang in there ya'll. Payne
PS, when I say we, our, I am including another genealogist that is not on
the Daniel-List, or I don't think he is. He is mentioned on my web page.

Subject: [DANIEL-L] Joseph Daniel in 1820 Warren Co., GA census
Now that Payne and others have decided how Ann Jones fits into the Daniel
family, I am trying to straighten out some of my Daniel family records.
While doing this, I decided to verify some info that I had in my files with
the census records. You know how one thing always leads to another. Well, I
found a Joseph Daniel listed in the 1820 census for Warren County, Georgia
on page 275 (image 27). Listed on this same page are James Rogers, Sr.,
Richard Swain, Susanna Swain, and Peter Randle. Does anyone know who this
Joseph Daniel is?
Now, I think I have these Swains pinpointed. From what I could figure they
were related to Stephen Swain, (father of James Swain, who married Elizabeth
Smithwick) through his son Richard (b. 1706, married Ann Charlton). Richard
had a son, Job Swain, b. 20 Feb 1747 in Bertie Co., NC, who married Susanna
Smith and about 1801 migrated to Warren County, GA with their six children.
Job died 12 Feb 1819, thus his widow appears on the 1820 census right next
to her son, Richard (b. 4 Jun 1794).
I still cannot determine to which family this Joseph Daniel belongs. I lean
towards the Simon Daniel/Elizabeth Rogers line, because their son Robert
Daniel married Mary Swain (daughter of James Swain and Elizabeth Smithwick).
But then I see this Peter Randle and think well maybe we could be talking
the Coleman/Daniel line. I just do not know! Can anyone shed some light on
