I have often wondered about your garland connection, but assumed you would figure it
out, one day. Merry christmas.

Subject: [DANIEL] Garland vs Daniel connection
Since my first name is Garland and my folks came from Halifax Co., NC, I started to look
at the Garlands of Sussex England and Isle of Wight. The descendants of Peter Garland out
of IOW., Va., are the probable reason I was named as such. Deborah Garland married
William Daniel of Isle of Wight and his folks later moved on to Northampton Co., NC and
Spotylvania Co., which may be close enough to Halifax Co., NC, to my folks for them to use
the name such as: Samuel Garland Daniel, Garland Bost Daniel, and Garland Payne Daniel?
There are three Garland Families - Sir John Garland of England (Peter Garland of IOW);
John Garland (another Peter) of New Kent Co., Va.., and Ambrose Garland the son of John
the Mariner Garland. There are no obvious real mix ups but some dates are confused here
and there. There was also a Garland Daniel, a female daughter of William and Deborah.
Anyway, I have the files for John Daniel of Isle of Wight, Va., on my web page including
Deborah Garland and a file on Peter Garland of Isle of Wight including Deborah Garland and
Any input on this family, Peter Garland (died 1694) and his marriages to Grace and Joan?
The Peter Garland born 10 May 1592 in England is not pertinent to this study and he
married either Jane Jennings or Martha Jane Hensley.
PS - Note that my ancestor Ambrose Daniel may have come from IOW., Va., to Halifax Co., NC
and some of his folks later moved to SC.
Prominent names of Garlands: Peter, Edward, John and Samuel.
