Elizabeth could have easily been bore out of wedlock, much easier than
today. Girls also tend to lie about their ages, then and now. . My mother
had several different birthdates. I guess I was 20 before I found out she
was actually born in 1904 and if she had not wanted to get SSA, I am sure
1908 would have continued to be her birth year but she wanted to retire from
teaching school so 1904 was it. Now, it is rather difficult to do because
we have birth certificates but back them it was rather easy to lie about
one's age and get away with it. They often did it so the could marry
earlier and get out of the house, etc. Now, kids want to stay 10 forever
and never cut the apron strings but not back then.

That was some good further info you sent. I can offer a little on some
of it. I'm snip-quoting and replying.

So, Obedience and Grace married after 1628. Because the Elizabeth who
md. John Daniel and Thomas Harmanson gave two depositions dating her to
1622-23, I think her birth year is pretty solid. That would mean she's
not a daughter of Obedience and Grace's marriage. The ways to somehow
keep her in their families would be if she's a daughter of a first
marriage(?) of Obedience, or if she's Grace's daughter by first husband
Waters. Unfortunately, I don't have anything to help on either
possibility, except that she's not in either of Obedience's or Grace's
probate records (1662 and 1682), and I for sure didn't read Waters

Good to know, that's part of the year range where I only did probate and
didn't get to all the court/land records.

It's not clear if you're maybe thinking this is the same Elizabeth
Harmanson who first married John Daniel but, just in case and for future
archive searchers, it's not. This Elizabeth (Robins) Harmanson is in
her father John's will (wife Esther Littleton), wr 1707 pr 1709, and
she's called Elizabeth Robins (i.e. unmarried in 1707). This Elizabeth
Robins did marry a later generation Thomas Harmanson (he's called the
III on various gedcoms).
A little follow-up to my previous post: I was contacted by a Piggott
researcher who had picked up that ref I made to a possible daughter of
Obedience and Grace as marrying Francis Piggott. Turns out
Robins/Piggott researchers are familiar with her and her name is Frances
and they definitely show her as the daughter of Obedience and Grace.
They show her as first married to Edward Littleton, then Francis Piggott.
