Hi to all,
I finally had the chance to find that last Essex record needed and it
turned out to be a smoking gun, silver bullet, nail in the coffin, all
in one, in terms of clearing up some of the early Essex/Caroline layout.
As was already pretty clear anyway, William of Caroline (d.1765) is in
no way the son of James of Essex as proposed by Gee, that son William is
identified in later records. And the birth years of the children of
James of Essex as sometimes given (1680s) are way off, which clears up
some perceived generation difficulties.
There's a rough write-up at:
Pam in CA, just back from a good Salt Lake trip!
