Thanks, Pam! I'll order the microfilms and copy the deeds. The county
genealogy society library can order films and there is a FHC here, too.
These are really interesting deeds. Sounds like there should be another
deed somewhere, where Robert Williams deeds all of his property to
William Daniel, maybe for lifetime care for himself and his wife, but
guess it would have been mentioned by now if such a deed existed.

Until someone can send you a copy, I read and abstracted the original from LDS film

This deed seems to be mis-cited: it's actually Deed Book 13, not 12. By the way,
Dorman also abstracted this volume and I didn't spot anything different from or
additional to his.

Also unto my son in law Edward Ballinger one good colt.

I didn't make note of any formal attestation by Katherine Ballenger in the witness
section or after the deed; I certainly might have missed it, but it also might just be the
author of your citation applying the term "attested by" to the deed's phrase
"with the consent of my now wife". Looks like your quote may be from Bruce
Ballenger's post to the list back in Feb 2000, wondering did he get it from
someone's write-up, i.e. Heinemann or some such?
I also just found where Joe Daniel and Bruce Ballenger conversed about this in 1999-2000
at genforum (http://www.genealogy.com/forum/surnames/topics/ballinger/231/
- has two
follow-up comments). Joe posted some fuller wording of the first part of the deed, but he
says "of the county of York and parish of St. Ann", has to be a boo-boo, there
was no St. Anne's that included any of York. Also, in one of the replies, Joe
describes Essex DB16, p. 159 as being from Robert Williams to William Daniel for 116
acres, but it's actually:
DB16-159 16 Feb 1719/20 William Daniel of Essex Co unto my son in law James Lindsey
116a on Pumansend Swamp grtd by deed to William Daniell fr William Berry. wit Richd
Booker, Edmd Booker. 16 Feb 1719(20) ackn by Wm. Daniel.
[Pumansend Swamp is in today Caroline]
Hope someone can send you the original to help more,
Pam in CA

Does anyone have a copy of the deed in which Robert Williams names
