Hi, Jim, I think you and I are both on Cecil's "myfamily" wedbsite. You
probably know that I'm still working on connecting to James Key Daniel thru yet
another possible son. Josiah Daniel b 18 Dec 1805 NC fits into the 1810 and 1820 census
records as a previously unidentified son. DNA from my cousin's test shows this to be a
really good match. I'm still trying to get to Caswell Co., NC, to try to find some
scrap of paper placing my Josiah there between 1805 and 1830 (when he got married in AL).
I had one day at the Raleigh Archives, but couldn't get to everything I wanted to
However, that's not why I'm writing to you. I was interested to see that you
live in Memphis. My Civil War ancestor is buried in Elmwood. There's a gentleman near
there working on getting the Sons of Confederate Veterans to put his name on marker 566
for us. Levi J. Beaver was transcribed from hospital records as Levi G. Bearer (an
non-existent person). Just last year we figured this all out. This gentleman who is
helping me wrote a book which included the names of those buried at Elmwood. He was happy
to make a note to correct the information in any future printings of the book and offered
to help get the grave properly marked. He even sent photos of the cemetery, and stone no.
566 to me via email. I was actually in Memphis in 1971 a number of times while living in
Millington, but had no idea that my ancestor was buried there. Anyway, just commenting on
"small world" happenings.
