A couple questions and some info.
The Chesley Daniels who were active in Granville in the time frame you mention (1800)
don't seem to fit the rest of your description. They are:
1. Chesley, 1730/1-1814, s/o James of Albemarle and Jane Hicks. He has a brother James,
but this is the James who married Sally Cocke, went to Person NC, then on to Christian KY
where he died in 1820. This is a Middlesex line.
2. Chesley, 1780-1812, s/o Josiah and Elizabeth (Key). He has brother James Key Daniel,
who died in Jackson MO in 1851. Also a Middlesex line.
3. Chesley, b. by 1786, d. 1819, s/o Joseph and Nelly Daniel. This Chesley does not have a
brother James. This is a different Daniel line located in eastern Granville, the Roger
I don't know the documentation, but gedcoms out there say the children of the Payton
family you are looking at were born in Stafford VA. If this is true, then the mother Nancy
is maybe not so likely a Granville Daniel.
Need a little more information about how you connect the James of Oglethorpe to a brother
Chesley in order to help more. I'm especially interested in what 1800 page you are
describing that has the Paytons and a James Daniel together on it.
