Good morning, Bill,
I have gone back to the books published by Sam and Ruth Sparacio to see
what they can give me on Benjamin. That name never appears in the William
Daniels of Essex and Caroline Counties, but does occur in the Middlesex
Here is Sparacio's information on one Benjamin: Benjamin Daniel, b 7
January 1736, d. 1774. Will dated 24 July 1774; proved 22 Aug 1774
(Middlesex County Records)
This Benjamin was son of Robert Daniel Sr. and 2nd wife, Mary Meacham.
Robert Daniel Sr. was son of Robert Daniel, b 1666 or earlier, d. 21 Sept
1720; m. 7 Feb 1689 Margaret Price.
I hesitate to say we are linked directly. however, I do feel there is a
family relationship, perhaps cousins. The suggestion has been made that all
three primary Daniel men of the 17th century in Virginia were brothers or
at least cousins.
On wonders where the name Coleman came from in Benjamin's children and I
ran across an interesting bit of information as I was going through the
Coleman section in the Sparachio's book "Supplement to the Pamunkey
Neighbors". A Daniel Brown (He died in Orange Co., Va, Will dated 26 Mar
1747) married Elizabeth Coleman, dau of Robert Coleman and Ann Spilsby. It
is highly possible that one of their sons (Francis, Daniel, Coleman, Thomas
and William) had a daughter Margaret Brown. Worth looking into.
There are no other Benjamins that I can find in my files and books, but
I'll keep looking. Where did your information on William come from? The
William who was b. 1734 in Caroline co.?
In going over some charts of Daniels I find a Polly Daniel, dau of James
and Priscilla Harrison Daniel, marrying Samuel Snead who died in 1817. That
is the only information I have on Sneed (Snead) but it rang a bell when I
read your message. James, who died about 1764, is purported to be the son
of William Daniel Jr and wife Elizabeth Coleman.
You are getting a lot of replies to your message which makes us all happy.
Keep going, Virginia Meeker harvgini(a)emeraldcoast.com

Since I am new to this list, I thought I should list my Daniel
The furthest back I have traced the Daniels are to William Daniel, who
was born 1
Mar 1734 in
Carolina County, Virginia. He married Mary Snead on 6 Apr 1764, and
had at least one child,
Benjamin Daniel was born 18 Oct 1769, and married Margaret Brown on 8 Sep
County, Virginia. They had at least one child, Coleman Daniel.
Daniel was born about
1781, probably in Virginia. He was married on 15 Apr 1817 to
Kaye in Louisville,
Jefferson County, Kentucky. Their son was William Augustus Daniel,
5 Feb 1818 in Louisville,
Jefferson County, Kentucky. On 26 Aug 1839, in Lexington, Fayette
County, Kentucky he married
Mary Elizabeth Cooper, and one of their daughters was Virginia
Daniel, who married John
King Weyer in Madison, Jefferson County, Indiana on 14 Oct 1873.
were my g-grandparents.
Any connections out there?
