Sorry that my first message (below) went out incomplete. I identified this source
reluctantly because Ray's profile of Robert is completely unreliable. It contains
so many errors (such as the name of his second wife -- she was Martha Wainwright,
not Sarah Logan) that I would discourage anyone from relying on any portion of it.
If you would like more reliable, factual information on Robert Daniell (d.1718) my
recommendation would be the profile written by William S. Price, Jr. on pp. 9-10,
"Dictionary of North Carolina Biography", volume 2, editor William S. Powell,
Hill, UNC Press, 1986. Price cited his sources and I have been able to verify nearly
all his information with a few exceptions (For example, Robert consistently spelled
his name Daniell, not Daniel, and his daughter, Martha, married George Logan, Jr.,
not Charles Logan).
If anyone does have any information on the names of the children of Roger Daniell,
Jr. (early 1600s) of York Co., VA, please let me know. I have been searching for
In "Ray's Index and Digest to Hathaway's North Carolina
Genealogical Register", Worth S. Ray included a sketch of my ancestor Robert
Daniell (d. 1718) of South Carolina and North Carolina. In it, Ray did claim
that Robert was the son of Roger Daniel, Jr. of York Co., VA. To my knowledge
Ray was the originator of this claim. Despite years of searching I have never
found any support for Ray's claim about Robert or any children of Roger Daniel,
Jr. The only Robert Daniel I have found in Virginia during this time period was
the son of William of Middlesex. If anyone knows of support for this claim.
