I am not a member of the Daniel list, but would like to pass along some
information. In looking through my old photographs, I found a photo I took
at an old church (it may be the oldest one) in Charleston, SC. These grave
stones were all around the building. It is also my understanding that
hurricane Hugo destroyed most of them. I have know idea why I took the
photo, was not even doing genealogy at the time, but liked the way it was
worded. At any rate it is the stone for the following family members, and
will be glad to share the photo with anyone that has ties to this family.
The inscription reads:
Here lie the remains of the Honarble Robert Daniell. A brave man who has
long served King William in his wars both land and sea. ...
It is too long to write out for posting, anyone that wants a copy, I will
gladly send it. The names are:
Robert DANIELL died at age 72 on the first day of May in 17?3 (looks like
1713, but there is a big crack down the middle)
Martha LOGAN died at age 53 on the 5th day of November in the year 1742.
(She was first the wife of Robert Daniell and then married Colonel George
Col. George LOGAN
also his son
George LOGAN and his wife Martha who was the daughter of Hon. Robert
Apparently a fire defaced the original family vault stone and this was
taken off of that stone.
