One of my ancestors was Jacob C. M. Daniel who was born 5 December 1835 in
Mercer Co., KY. His wife was Rhoda Elizabeth Farr. They were married 30
Nov 1856 in Parke Co., IN.
Seemingly Jacob was a prime candidate to serve during the Civil War, yet I
haven't found any indication that he did so on either side. He had children
born 1862, 1864, and 1865. According to census records he was living in
Kentucky during the Civil War. I would imagine being in a border state it
would have been difficult to stay out of the conflict. There has to be a
reason why he did, but I don't know what it is. I wonder if anyone else
Thanks very much.
