Ancestry family trees frequently lack any documentation and perpetuate
bad, unproved or undocumented information. Nothing you can really do
about that except keep asking people for their sources.
Additionally, folks may not log on to Ancestry for weeks, months or
even years to check their emails. There is no other way to contact
someone on Ancestry, except using their Ancestry email account. I
occasionally, but not always, get a notification on my personal email
account that someone has replied to a message I left on Ancestry. Not
sure why I don't always get a notification. On Ancestry, you can click
on someone's user name and it will take you to their profile page which
shows the last time they logged on, to see if have even read your
I have found Ancestry DNA to be pretty useless in tracing Y DNA unless
the connection is very recent. Ancestry matches are problematic for
folks who have colonial ancestry, as you are often likely to share
numerous connections to common ancestors of different surnames with
other folks who have colonial connections. Not much you can do about all
Not much you can do on FTDNA if your matches won't reply to you. In our
Caroline County, VA Daniel subgroup, we have someone who has tested to
111 markers and matches all 12 folks in the group very closely, but they
have not disclosed their ancestry or joined the Daniel DNA project! We
have no way to contact them to invite them into the Daniel DNA project,
so don't know if they don't understand how to join the project or don't
want to join it. Maddening!
Does anyone else have any suggestions for Marty?

Two problems: Ancestry.com
test puts us in circles. The people I contact have no
documentation of their connection to Jesse either! They have mostly taken their info from
trees on Ancestry. I have found two who have. Now I cannot get anyone to say that the dna
link IS a brother to our Jesse or not. Who do I get in touch with to get clarification?
FTDNA gives me connections but they either a.)won’t get back with me or b.) don’t have a
tree that they will share.
