I haven't done much work on this I admit, but what research I have done on
the Welsh Daniel line, which I am interested in, indicates that it was an
Eastern European/Hungarian name, originally Daneel or something like that.
There was a suggestion that they arrived in Wales after successive pogroms
between the 17th and 19th centuries.
