Brunswick County, Virginia
The question is why did Heinemann and his "echo", the author of the "House
Daniel" leave Frederick Daniel, 1754-1840, out of the lineage of William
Daniel and Ann___? ____Daniel of Brunswick Co.? There is circumstantial
evidence that Frederick's father was a William. I have been unable to
establish any James as Frederick's father?
In Heinemann, there is no data for the James Daniel who was born in 1747,
perhaps in BrunswicK, and it is logical to place him in the family of William
and Ann Daniel. As a matter of fact, Heinemann lists no data for the issue of
William and Ann. If Frederick was born in 1754 he could fit into the family
of our William and Ann? You may know that I mismatced some folks in the
Roger Daniell and William Daniel families. This will be cleared up when I
upload the changes to my web page.
In Brunswick County, we can account for William Daniel who died 28 Jan 1786,
wife Ann, and their issue George, John, Drury, James, Ellick, and Williams's
brother Thomas who witnessed his will. We can also place Reese Daniel, son of
John Daniel and brother of William.
There was an Elizabeth, John, Peter (Sarah), Hugh (Ann), Marmaduke, Randall,
all between 1731 and 1759, in Brunswick Co. There was a Martha who died in
1815 and mentions her nephews Peter and Mabry. While Mabry may be confused
as a last name, Mabry Daniel married Rebecca Laffon on 29 April 1813, she was
born Abt. 1784. There is a dead end here inspite of the fact that the
Laffons' are a large family?
It is my thinking that the Brunswick Daniel family descended from William
Daniel of Caroline and that my ancestor Ambrose Daniel was the uncle of Reese
and William. I believe that Randall Daniel (Brunswick Co., Va., and Rowan
County, NC) is the key to this puzzle. Thanks in advance for any help you
