Okay James J. Daniel in Co. "A" is your fella. It only helped in my
thoughts that if the Daniel male was in the military it would explain why
was not listed in the 1860 census. He either was in the military out in the
field or died. He was someplace other than the home when the census taker
came a knocking. To be honest he could have also been on his way to or from
GA since the youngest child was only a year old and born in GA they could
still have been traveling.
I am just thinking outloud here, hoping ya'll can keep my straight.
Ruth did you get the copy of the census page I sent you?

The James J. Daniel that signed up in Company "A" is James J. Daniel, Jr
married Martha Minerva Graves. He is my gggrandfather. His father James
Daniel, Sr. married Lydia Davis (dau of John Davis and Elizabeth Murphy).
I know this as fact - because his military record is listed on his tombstone
in the Scottville Cemetery in Harrison Co., TX.
Take Care - Ruth
