I know all about Chesley C. Daniel. He was a son of RDC and Penelope
Lane. He moved to Columbus, GA ABT 1835 and married a Grant girl. He moved
to Louisanna after the CW and changed his name to Chris Daniel, which gives
me a good understanding of his middle name, Christian. I think he move from
Burke to Muscogee about the time of his father's death. I also think you
know where this is headed. At least, that is what I think.

Is there more info available about this proposal?
Chesley Daniel b. 1780 s/o Josiah and Elizabeth pops out in the Granville
tax lists in 1802 as Chesley Junr right between his father Josiah and
brother Martin in the Country Line district. He appears in 1802, 1804, 1806,
1809, off an on as Chesley Jr, but always next/near to other members of the
This Chesley has a will.
LDS film 18974, Granville WBs:
WB7-258 Chesley Daniel (sig by mark) [written Chisley], will to my
affectionate sister Elizabeth Daniel after debts paid. exr Woodson Daniel,
wit Samuel Peace, James B. Johnson, wr 20 Jun 1812, pr Nov 1812
Some of the buyers at his sale in Jan 1813 were Woodson Daniel, Mrs.
Elizabeth Daniel, Flemming Peace...Martin Daniel, Josiah Daniel, Samuel
Daniel, Samuel Peace jr, Walter Daniel....
This is the Chesley Junr who d. 23 Jun 1812, as noted in Josiah's book. He's
unmarried based on his will.
I notice at worldconnect that about 1/3 of the trees on this 1780 Chesley
mix and meld him with two other Chesleys:
1. The Chesley who md. Agnes Williams. This Chesley is from the eastern
Granville family, he's s/o Joseph and Nelly. This Chesley d. before Mar 1819
and his wf Agnes is gdn to their chn Nathaniel W. and Joseph Richard and
their estate for many years. She notes in her accounts their land as being
devised from the will of Joseph Daniel (his will wr 18 Feb 1819, pr May
1819, has the same description of land, gives it to his grandsons "William
and Richard, sons of Chesley"). That they have their land in Mar 1819
narrows in on the death date of old Joseph even more.
2. The Chesley who md. Lucy Noblin. This Chesley is not born until
1805-1810, he's the L. Chesley Daniel (surely Lewis Chesley) in the records
and he's almost surely son of William Ford Daniel and Abigail Crews.
I see the Chesley C. Daniel, b. ca 1818 GA, in the census in GA Burke
1840-1850, then in Washington in 1860, then his widow Ann in GA Bibb in
1870, then w/her dau Emma in 1880 GA Houston. Is he part of this proposal
about Chesley s/o Josiah?

Did he have a daughter named Sarah or Sarah Elizabeth?
