Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
One of my ancestors was Jacob C. M. Daniel who was born 5 December 1835 in
Mercer Co., KY. His wife was Rhoda Elizabeth Farr. They were married 30
Nov 1856 in Parke Co., IN.
Seemingly Jacob was a prime candidate to serve during the Civil War, yet I
haven't found any indication that he did so on either side. He had children
born 1862, 1864, and 1865. According to census records he was living in
Kentucky during the Civil War. I would imagine being in a border state it
would have been difficult to stay out of the conflict. There has to be a
reason why he did, but I don't know what it is. I wonder if anyone else
