Dear John Clark:
Do you know of an Elijah Leroy Daniell. He married Sarah(Sally) Leone
Armstrong in 1884 in Pulaski Co. GA. They had four children viz: Elijah
Leroy, Jr., William Anderson, Jesse Damascus, and Mary Leone.
Jesse Damascus was my grandfather, however he spelled it Daniel, without the
two "L"s on the end.
None of my family knows anything of Elijah Leroy Daniell, Sr. No one knows
where he came from or who his family was.
Please send me anything you might have or know.

Hello all you Daniel Researches! Is there some one out there that can
or will clear up a problem for me,?
"It is my understanding that Danielsville, Madison County was named for
Gen. Allen Daniel?, did he donate the ground that the original Court
House occupied?, I have on two occasions now been told that his brother
William Daniel did this. How can this be documented?
Thanks in advance,

I really liked your post on your DANIEL given names. I also like the NC
and GA locations you list. FYI, there is a Robert Columbus (as I
remember -- anyway it was a "C.") DANIEL floating around
Burke.Tattnall/Jefferson County, GA and those areas right across the SC
border in about that same time frame.
I have often tried to link him to my Robert William(s) DANIEL but I have
not been able to. I like the names William, Nancy and Elizabeth you listed.
I have a James, Robert, Nancy, Sarah and Elizabeth -- there may be more that
I do not know about.
All of these were born ca.1790-1810. All originally lived in or around
Burke/Jefferson/Tattnall County, GA although some may have been born in NC
and they were the children of a person Ann DANIEL in her Will of 1861 refers
to as "James D. DANIEL." I do know that, at least one, relocated to
Barbour County, AL. Other hot spots for their descendents are Meridian,
Lauderdale County, MS and Madison, Morgan County, GA.

The Tatnall Co., GA Daniel's is a distant branch off my line. If I have it
right it starts with Roger Daniel to Roger Daniel, Jr. to John Daniel & Ann
to Thomas Daniel & Elizabeth Lanier and down. Some of these came through
Tyrell Co., NC and then some to Tatnall Co., GA.
I know very little about William Daniel. The only reason I know anything at
all about him is that I have a copy of a page from a book called "The History
of Arkansas." This article is talking about Dr. Thomas Jefferson Daniel.
William's son. All it tells me is that Dr. Thomas Jefferson Daniel is one of
the well known physicians of Petit Jean Valley, located at Waveland, Yell
Count, this State. He is a native Arkansan, born near Quitman, Van Buren
County, December 9, 1857, the son of William and Jane (Haney) Daniel, natives
of North Carolina and Tennessee, respectively. The father followed farming
in Van Buren County until 1858, when he moved to White County, and died there
in the fall of 1865, at the age of sixty -- six years, and the mother dying
in 1859 at the age of fifty -- five. We are not sure if my grandfather was
really Dr. Thomas Jefferson Daniel's real son or not we know that he was
Jefferson Thomas Daniel and was born out of wedlock. Dr. Thomas Jefferson
Daniel did take him in, but he was not listed as one of his kids. We think
that Jefferson Thomas (my grandfather) may have been Dr. Thomas Jefferson
Daniel's brother son by a lady named Mary Brown.
Now that I have confused you I hope that I have also helped you.
Oh when was you're William born.
RUBY, Would you know the names of your Williams Parents? Or would you know
what your William's middle name was? Somehow I have a middle name down for
my William as John, but I don't know for certain that is right. I have his
Siblings, but then again, half of the papers I have list two different
children than the other half.
What is more frustrating is that both these listings come from what is called
"Proven Lineage." My William had a brother Abner b. before 1799, died when
young. Other siblings: Isaac H.A.1784 or 1786, John before 1790, Robert C.
b.1791, Auvert b.1796-d.1862,Calaway b.1800-d.1863, Reuben (my
GGG)b.1804-d.1863, Nancy b.1810-d.1867, (Caldonia) Geneva Elizabeth
b.1812-d.1885. The other half of the "Proven Papers" list a Mary and a Anne
b. 1796 insted of Auvert and Geneva??
Parents were Joseph Job Daniel and Elizabeth Calaway. Also on one of the
papers it states places of residence as New Berne, N.C. until 1808., Georgia;
Franklin Co., Tenn. I have nothing else on William or John except their
birthdates. Hope you can find a conection. Dianna
I have a William Daniel born 1799 NC. He moved to Van Buren Co., Ar. Married
Jane Haney from Tn. Not sure when they married but know that the both died in
White Co., Ar. He died 1865 and she died 1859. I know they had a son Thomas
Jefferson Daniel that was born 1857 Van Buren Co., Ar. and later became a Dr.
we think he had a brother named James.
Does anyone on the List connect to these families? Thanks, Audrey

John is listed as a planter. I understand this to mean he had at least
100 acres of land. Has anyone ever seen any tax records regarding his
estate? Also, did the VA government or the Crown tax estates and if so,
is the document available?
To date, I am unaware of anyone that has documented John's origin. Oral
tradition suggest he left Liverpool bound for VA about 1639. Does anyone
