I did find a connection at your site, but ironically it isn't Daniels, but
Stephen Crow and Margaret Stroud. Their granddaughter Nancy Anne Burnett
married Jeremiah Melton Daniell 1817, Clarke Co., GA.

I wonder if your line belongs to DANIEL and DICKERSON of early VA who
appears to have migrated together; I follow them into SC and have this
document that seems to be the best one that perhaps connects the families.
"SOME SOUTH CAROLINA RECORDS, VOL 2"
"pp 271-172: 17 Jan 791. John DICKERSON of Greenville to Robert SMITH of
same, for 20 pds sterling, 100 acres, part of a tract of 1340 acres on the
Grove Creek granted to sd DICKERSON by Gov PINCKNEY, rec. in Grant Bk RRRR
page 284, adj. BAUGHN's, BOWIE's lines, CLARK's Trail. Signed: John
DICKERSON. Wit: Amb. BLACKBURN, REUBEN DANIEL, Micajah CLARK. Rec 22 Mar
Reuben DANIEL and the DICKERSON family continue to be on the same
documentation, even though other families.
Reuben DANIEL can be see in the Christ Church Parish Records of Middlesex
Reuben DANIEL son of Robert & Elizabeth DANIEL born April 22. baptized May
14 1721. One, George DANIEL leaves a will, 1788, in Middlesex and mentions
his half-brother, Robert DANIEL.
SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA:
Reuben DANIEL is a mentioned on the will of William HOLLODAY/HOLLOWAY, 1743.
On the same page as Reuben is mentioned again, Nathaniel DICKENSON/DICKERSON
and wife Elizabeth________ leaves a record.
Reuben DANIEL, *Vivion DANIEL, Thos MERRY and Ricd THOMAS witness the will
of Joseph COLLINS, 1768.
This DANIEL and *VIVION families are from Middlesex County, VA. Apparently,
the families intermarried.
DICKENSON/DICKERSON families are in Caroline and Spotsylvania Counties, VA.
Some migrated down further into Southside VA, into the border NC
counties...then I find them again in SC. Do not do a lot of TN-KY research.

Listing the following SURNAMES:
ABBOTT, BEAN, BYERLY, CURTIS, DANIELS, DEMENT, DUNN, ELLIS,
FREEMAN, GOULD, HAMMOND, HICKS, HOLLENBECK, LUX, NORRIS,
REDMAN, STEIN, STROUD, WALLACE and more!
I know the PACE line and they are very involved with Southside VA families.
Perhaps Zadock DANIEL is of the same family of Brunswick. LEWIS, of course,
is everywhere, but some of these families did intermarried with LEWIS.
The SHORT family left Brunswick and in 1763 William SHORT leaves a will in
Northampton County, NC. This will is also recorded in Brunswick. An
interesting mention in the SHORT will is this: "lands I bought of William
CHAMBERS, joining William PRIDON and the river (except about 10 acres) and
also Burk Island, Miller Island which I purchased of Hosea TAPLEY* and the
Reedy Island and also 2 negroes."
*Hosea TAPLEY is from the same TAPLEY family that intermaried with William
POOLE of Brunswick, and left a will in Mecklenburg County, VA, 1777; the
line I believe to be my husband's.
This is the earliest Abraham MAYFIELD in my family book:
"Robert MAYFIELD was living in Essex Co, VA from before 1684 to the time
of his death about 1714-16. The 1704 Quit Rents lists 125 acres for him.
His will names sons, Robert MAYFIELD, Jr, Abraham MAYFIELD*, John MAYFIELD,
Isaac, MAYFIELD (mine) and Jacob MAYFIELD; three daughters who were married
by 1714." Since he had a small farming area, most of the sons may have
migrated early. Not enough land to go around.
Spotsylvania County, VA:
"Oct 4, 1737. Abraham MAYFIELD of Spts Co, planter, to Blomfield LONG of
Essex Co, Blacksmith. L35 curr. 200 a. in Spts Co, part of a tract granted
to Larkin CHEW, Dec'd, by patent, June 4, 1722. Wm BARTLET, Jno PARRISH, A.
FOSTER. Oct 4, 1737. Elizabeth, the wife of Abraham MAYFIELD, acknowledged
her dower, etc."
"By 1739 Abraham MAYFIELD has a son Abraham at least 16 years old. He sold
land in 1754 in Spotsylvania. It seems possible that his son Abraham
married Ann_______by 1757 and made land transactions in Orange and Culpeper
Counties (VA). William MAYFIELD's inventory was conducted in Culpeper
County in 1761."
I don't know where Abraham went after the above locations, but do think I've
seen the name in other states.
I have the MAYFIELD lineage. Can you trace that line?

Do you, by any chance, connect to the WHEELER family that also (in some way)
connects with Stephen Sparks POOLE and Lucinda WOOLEY? Many years ago I
received information from a WHEELER of this family.
Isham DANIEL and John TILMAN are on the inventory of Richard SULLIVANT's
estate, Brunswick County, VA, 1772. Inventory was taken by John BALLARD, Jr
admr. Returned to Court 27 Jul 1772. Other family names...John Taylor
DUKE, William CONNELLY (STROUD-CROW-POOL through John CONNELLY & Delilah
STROUD), Thos JACKSON, John JONES, Anne MABRY, Daniel MABRY (m. MOBLEY-my
matriarchal line-aep), Joel MABRY, Joshua MABRY, Nathaniel MABRY, Frederick
MACLING (sic), Matthew PARHAM.
I have compiled TILLMAN and related families in my word processor. If you
are interested, will send; not a GEDCOM. We have Tillman POOL and Tillman
HOLLOWAY. One TILLMAN m. a HOLLOWAY girl. They are from Surry and Prince
George...then Brunswick Counties, VA.
If you have this family, you may have a POOLE line as well.

Am I seeing a DANIEL/LANIER marriage here? I see several records with
DANIEL/LANIER in the Southside VA records. The LANIER family was very
prolific and many of those families intermarried, not only in VA, but kept
the migration route folks very related!
Does someone on the List have the above lineage? A pedigree chart to share
so I could see connections?
I am only just beginning to collect DANIEL information.
Thanks much, Audrey

Note from Audrey: The Edward CHAMPION family is from very early Surry and
Isle of Wight Counties, VA. Because of this I went to Isle of Wight and
found earlier wills of the DANIEL family and will follow up with them soon.
Surry, I.O.W., Prince George, Brunswick, etc., all were the same at one

DANIEL/LEADBETTER connection again. (aep=Audrey Ellen Pool)
Note from Audrey: Because of the men involved with this last record, I
believe John "POOK" on the Prince George County DANIELS, is probably John

grandfather was James Walton POOL.

Note from Audrey: The BRACEY/BRACIE and ROBINSON families were from

Note from Audrey: Asa HOLLOWAY was one of the administrators of Owen
MYRICK's estate, and William POOLE and Adam TAPLEY were securities for the

Here is a later will that you may have. I also have some deeds of the
DANIEL family you speak of if you don't have those (Brunswick County, VA).
I see Marmaduke DANIEL as a buyer on someone's will, but not will for him.
The will books, until later, didn't show DANIEL wills, but associations with
others, possible relatives.
If you are interested in bits and pieces, let me know. I think I also have
some DANIEL data from Prince George County, the one Brunswick is from.
