I am looking for information on the ancestors and family of William Daniel,
lived in the White Oak area, York Co. (now Kershaw Co.) South Carolina. He
was born before 1735 and died on his plantation in 1796. His will was dated
10/4/1795 and he signed it William O'Daniel.
It is possible that he had a brother named James.

I am not sure if your article on Thomas Daniel would be of use to me or
not. My ancestor is James Daniel born about 1760, probably in
Virginia. He was an early settler of Tennessee, and died in Greene
County, Alabama in 1821. His wife was Henrietta Maria -------.
If you have any James Daniels in the article that might fill this bill,
please send your article on, otherwise, I will pass. Thanks for the

Michael, Enlighten me about your article on Thomas and Elizabeth (Stith)
Daniel in the line of William Daniel of Middlesex. If it is free send it
along, if there is a charge, let me know.
Aug. 1782 William DANIEL and Francis DANIEL each deposited certificates
with the NC Comptroller for money due them as militiamen in the Revolution.
In 1793 two land grants were issued to William Daniel for land previously
entered and surveyed on the Holston River: (1) No. 108, 150 acres,
variously described as: Hawkins Co., S. side Holston River on Younce's
Creek; or Sullivan Co., North side Holstein River on MacBerry's branch
including a large spring; or Hawkins Co., South side Holstons River on
Young's Creek; (2) No. 340, 300 acres, variously described as: Hawkins
Co. S. side Holston River below the mouth of Young's Creek; or Green Co,
South Bank of Holston River below the mouth of german Creek at the mouth of
a large spring; or Hawkins Co., South side Holstons River beginning
below the mouth of Young's Creek. In both surveys Francis Daniel was a
chain bearer. Francis Daniel later was taxed in Grainger Co. TN for 150
acres, which I believe to be the same land covered by Grant No. 108 to
William. (Grainger Co., formed in 1796, included some land formerly in
Hawkins Co. Grant No. 340 probably later became a part of the present
Hamblen Co.) I think Francis may have been William's son.
In 1810, Elizabeth Daniel, believed to be a sister of Francis, married
James B. Clark of the Dutch Bottoms in Cocke Co. TN. (They became my g g
grandparents.) Elizabeth's sister Katherine married Royal Jennings of
Grainger Co. TN.
I have been unable to prove anything about either Elizabeth Daniel or James
B. Clark prior to their marriage in Grainger Co. TN on 17 Feb. 1810.
I should be very grateful for any information about any of these people, or
anything to cconfirm or deny any of the above conjectures.
