I am still searching for information on my Justus/Justice Hawley/Holley who
was born in Sharon, Litchfield, Connecticut, in either 1763 or 65. He
ended up in Dorset, Bennington, Vermont, where he married and raised a
family. More particularly....
Justus HAWLEY
Born 5 Feb 1763/65 in Sharon, Litchfield, CT.
At age 16 he came from Richmond, Berkshire County, Massachusetts.
Justus HOLLEY/HAWLEY - fifer from MA, VT; b Sharon, CT 1763; Capt Bacon's
MA comp 1781. Fought in the Battle of Bennington. Later resided in Dorset,
VT.
He lived on West Road in Dorset, VT.
Listed in "Heads of Families - Vermont 1790. His name was spelled
Justice Hawley and was the only on listed in the family except for one
white female (presumably his wife, Elizabeth.)
Name often spelled HOLLEY or HOLLY - first name spelled JUSTICE or
JUSTUS
Married Elizabeth FIELD on 9 Sep 1849, in Dorset, Bennington, VT.
