Confusion over what? If are going to have town pages there should be an
easier way to manage queries and create surname lists even though they don't
get as much traffic as the county pages. Why does CT seem to be the only
state with town pages?

Julie, here is the deal, most of the records in this state are kept
with the towns unlike most states where they are kept with the
counties. This makes things rather difficult for those looking for
their roots, to make things for complicated, towns where formed at
different times, some have even changed names! To further
complicate things, the probate system does follow the county
lines, well almost. The state also has a duplicate set of records in
both the department of health and the state library. To keep things
organized, we have chosen to divide up the pages by county, within
each county there are separate town pages usually maintained by
different volunteers. We would like to have the number of query
systems down to a minimum so that we don't have to spend hours
passing queries around to each other. That way if someone would
like to post or view them, they don't have to wade through all of the
various towns looking, just try to narrow it down to a few counties
or the unknown one on the state page.
I hope this answers your question as to why we have things
organized this way, although I am open to any and all suggestions,
believe me, I have been doing this for some time and it doesn't
mean I am perfect.
