Hi, Kathy,
We've really been missing you.
The main thing we all need to do for now is get links updated to link back to any of the
relevant USGenWeb sites. Everyone is free to leave their state, county or town sites on
RW (or mirror them on RW) as long as they're maintained. Many sites have moved and
we'll be pulling the plug on the original sites soon. It's going to be very
confusing for visitors for awhile. Here are some of the most important updates:
CTGenWeb (New URL)
http://www.ctgenweb.org/
New London County CTGenWeb (New URL)
http://www.ctgenweb.org/county/conewlondon/
Hartford County CTGenWeb (New URL)
http://www.ctgenweb.org/county/cohartford/
Windham County CTGenWeb (moving soon)
http://www.ctgenweb.org/county/cowindham/
USGenWeb Archives (new URL)
http://www.usgwarchives.net/
USGenWeb Tombstone Project (new URL)
http://www.usgwtombstones.org/registry.html
USGenWeb Family Group Sheet Project (new URL)
http://www.fgs-project.com/
USGenWeb Census 1 (no change)
http://www.us-census.org/
USGenWeb Census 2 (no change)
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~census/
LOGOS: We're still using USGenWeb logos (the one you use on your town pages is one
of the four approved logos). We're going to be voting on a new CTGenWeb logo to
accompany the USGenWeb logo on our sites. With all the huge changes, we thought it would
be a fun way to start in our new "home" and reinforce our Project identity.

Well now, looks like I'll be moving all my stuff off Rootsweb, I don't
like the fact that Ancestry added their logo to my pages, I don't endorse
them and I personally think they overcharge for their information. Do I
remember wrong or didn't Ancestry say when they took over Rootsweb that they
wouldn't interfere with the Genweb pages?
I'm trying to absorb all this new information, for some reason my isp
decided that it needed to monitor my messages and I just got 48 of them
delivered today with
rootsweb.com in the address.
Obviously I have missed out on something because I have no idea what's
really going on here.
So do I understand this correctly, CTGenweb is no longer housed on
rootsweb's servers? What are we suppose to use as a logo, do we have to
wait for a new design? I have the USGenweb Project logo on mine do I have to
remove it? What's this about space on CTGenweb, do we have servers and what
is the cost? I can move them to the my web site in space allotted by my isp
but if I go over the limit it will cost me extra.
I'm not going to bother to update the pages on Rootsweb, I'll just upload
new ones with updated links to another site and delete the ones on Rootsweb.
I will need a few days, I have had the unlucky draw to get saddled with
"*&^%#" jury duty starting Tuesday, hopefully it won't last long.
