Awhile back, a researcher contacted me (and, I think, Maureen, too) about the USGenWeb
Archives for New London County including records of individuals born more recently than
100 years. I believe the records in question were removed upon request.
She contact me again today, complaining that they had reappeared, but didn't mention
the
name of the family, so I could check. As for the reappearing, I guess it's possible
that
they were reposed by the original contributor, or, is it possible that the mirrored sites
at
http://usgwarchives.net/ (which I understand is the correct URL) and
http://usgwarchives.org are not identical?
HOWEVER, my real reason for writing is this: Do the statutes for releasing vital records
(marriage, birth, death certificates) to eligible people or genealogical societies really
have any bearing on the publication of information as it is submitted by a family member?
Could you or I publish a biographical sketch, obituary, or tombstone transcription of
someone born in 1915 if it is done with permission? And, as with this very disgruntled
person who keeps writing, what happens if another family member objects? So far, I
haven't had any complaints about the county site, but I'd like to understand the
law, if
any, that would apply to submissions of researchers or families.
I am relying on these two sites to be up to date on statutes as they apply for the
release of records:

Ideas? Interpretations? Opinions?
