I know it's only been a short time, but if each of you will respond to me privately at
newlondon(a)patsabin.com and let me know of any changes in your site addresses or email, it
would be appreciated.
You may have noticed that Linda Pingel has resigned as Tolland County Coordinator.
Tolland County is available for adoption, and what data was salvagable is on the original
RootsWeb site. All of the town site information is on Linda's personal genealogy
site. If you have town sites on your county that are in Linda's name, I strongly
suggest that you add a disclaimer to let visitors know that links may lead to outside
sites. We can revisit later if needed.
Susan Taylor has retired as a town coordinator. If you have Susan listed for town sites,
we can access those. She'll be missed!
Just a reminder, that if you have links to any of Ray Brown's town sites, you'll
need to add some sort of disclaimer on the page. We have not been able to reach Ray. One
email address is bouncing, and another is a "no response." Once again, it's
quite a dilemma when a fully developed site is out of our reach, and may disappear
altogether one day.
If you have trouble updating your site, please let me know. We'll figure it out.
I hate to harp on this, but PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE give me your input on the proposed
bylaws at
http://www.ctgenweb.com/proposed.html and on the domain and web hosting. We
must make a decision before the domain and hosting expire next month. We have several
options for free space,
RootsWeb/Ancestry.Com among them. I hate the idea of giving up the
domain name, which is registered with Maureen, but it will require several of us chipping
in for the cost of the domain and hosting. In large states, CCs can chip in $5.00 each and
cover the costs for two years. Unfortunately, we are a *very small group*.
If we end up back at RootsWeb, we would not be the only USGenWeb state there. The
following states are on RootsWeb: Alaska, Arizona, Maine, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey,
New York, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont, and Wyoming....and a number of county sites.
Let's hear some ideas!
