Patricia,
I am Barbara Kaye, the Stamford TC. I am still alive and active and I know how to and do
update my webpages as needed. I am also the Cemetery Coordinator, if that’s a real
position. As such I update the pages concerning the cemeteries in Fairfield County.

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone is safe. Lots of big storms coming through the eastern
states.
I realize that most folks are getting ready for the holidays, but I'm still obligated
to turn in membership updates to the Advisory Board for the 4th Quarter. It's a
requirement of the USGenWeb Project.
Please respond privately BEFORE DECEMBER 7TH, and let me know that you are still active,
and, if you are a County Coordinator, please give me an update on any TCs that seem to be
absent, I will greatly appreciate it. My email addresses are patricia.sabin(a)comcast.net
and newlondon(a)patsabin.com . Either is fine.
I've already heard from the following ACTIVE MEMBERS: Maureen Mead (CC & TC), Jim
Rothgeb (CC & TC), Deb Inman (TC), Julie Middleton (CC & TC), Andrew Franklin
(TC), George Waller (TC), so you all are accounted for. THANK YOU!!!
If you are dead, please have someone notify me, so we can post your obituary on the
appropriate county site.
If you are active, but are having any trouble updating your sites, PLEASE let me know, and
we can work together to get it straightened out. An approved USGenWeb logo is required. A
current year is appreciated.
It's really important for us to be a cohesive organization going into 2015. The
CTGenWeb domain will expire, and we will be looking for place to house our sites.
RootsWeb still offers free space to the USGenWeb Project, but I think we would have to
give up the domain name, or renew it for future use (Maureen, correct me if I'm
wrong). This is an urgent matter, and EVERY ACTIVE MEMBER will want to participate in that
discussion.
Once all of that is settled, I will propose that we draft and adopt bylaws for CTGenWeb.
At least 2/3 of the USGenWeb states have bylaws. They offer that extra layer of clarity
for the "what if?" situations. I've visited a lot of states and read their
bylaws. If you have time, you might want to poke around and see what other states are
doing.
I have counties in several states, and, like everyone here, I have "real life"
obligations, too. I don't think we need a long list of requirements. Mostly, I'd
like to address what to do about abandoned sites, and the best way to handle that is
before it happens. Every state struggles to attract and keep good coordinators, but I
think we can anticipate and plan ahead.
Since we will have a lot of discussion in the near future, I may start doing what GAGenWeb
does, and put BIZ in the subject line of a mandatory USGenWeb/CTGenWeb message, and maybe,
"Discuss" for non-mandatory discussions. The list goes both ways, so I would
encourage any member to post questions or initiate a discussion.
Thanks, everyone! Have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving!
