I don't want to disrupt anyone's Christmas spirit. It is cool and rainy in
Atlanta, but I'm totally in the holiday zone myself!
Since we have some big decisions to make the first of the year, if you have a few minutes
here and there, I thought I would make a proposal for new CTGenWeb guidelines and bylaws.
I welcome discussion on this list in the next few weeks. If you feel uncomfortable
commenting on the list, you may send a private email message. I will post the link below
to view and print the proposal.
If you are involved in other USGenWeb state projects, you probably have ideas of what
works and doesn't work. I am a county coordinator in several states, most of which
have bylaws. Some have constant activity and discussions on the state list, and others are
quiet, but the important thing is having a framework in place for new members and for the
inevitable "what ifs." I hope we can hammer something out and vote in
mid-January.
I realize that most of us have been doing this for a long time, and we may have work
obligations, health issues, family commitments, and maybe financial difficulties, too.
During difficult times, the CTGenWeb Project will not be, nor should it be, at the top of
our "to do" list. In my opinion, genealogy is a HOBBY, and it should be
enjoyable. However, CTGenWeb is part of a a larger organization.
I have had conversations with several County Coordinators and Town Coordinators about some
of their concerns, and I'll bring those comments to the list as our discussions
progress. If anyone feels that we should move off this list to a more private list, let me
know. The problem is getting participation from everyone who wants to be a part of
decisions.
Thanks for your dedication. I've known most of you for many years, and it feels like
family.

print, or I can send it to you as a Word document. I look forward to your ideas.
