Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Sorry folks, those responses were supposed to be private... see I
said I was too old.
Anyhow what I said would have been stated publicly soon enough so I
haven't said anything that is too personal (I hope).

George,
Don't you know that the USGenWeb is like the Mafia, and you can never retire? ;-) I
think you've done a great job. I hate the idea of annual elections, so I'll tend to vote
for whomever wants the job....and then nominate and vote for that same person every year.
What a blessing that we don't have a gazillion counties like SC and GA!
Thank you, George!!!!

Hello all,
I have decided to retire after 12 years as SC. New blood is needed
if we are to continue to grow and I'm getting tired.
According to the USGenWeb by-laws, we are required to have an
election to choose the new SC. The best way to do this is to ask the
USGenWeb Election Committee to run an election for us. By the way,
now that I am going to be "un-grandfathered" we will need to have an
election every year, which is what most of the other states already
do.
Thanks to all of you for all the years of excellent work-- many of
you have twelve years under your belt too.
The next you should hear of this is from the Election Committee which
will seek nominations, etc. My retirement will go into effect once
the new SC is elected.
Many thanks, George

So ... if no one wants to run for the office, you'll stay our SC. <g>
