No Maudelin in my line that I know of. There were large numbers of STAPLES
present in Mass. and Maine as well as Conn. Thomas may well have come from
Mass. on the way to Conn. I have yet to determine if he came directly from
Eliz Sherwood (1743-1798) was first wife of Deacon John Staples. Sarah
Sherwood (1734-1783 ) was wife of Thaddeus Staples (my direct ancestor).
Parrock Sherwood married (in 1753) Abagail Staples.

Prior to your Thomas, I have a Maudelin Staples, b. abt 1580 who married a
Richard West in Drayton, Sommerset, England and produced a daughter Joane
in 1606. Joane married John White, Sr and they produced several children
who figured prominently in the development of the MA Bay Colony. Was
part of your Staples family?
We are also descendants of the Fairfield Sherwoods through David, son of
Isaac and Elizabeth Jackson Sherwood, son of Thomas, Jr and Mary Wheeler,
Thomas, Sr and Alice Seabrook Sherwood. Where did the Sherwood/Staples
marriage come in?
