Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Westchester County Genealogical Society (NY) Upcoming Meeting
WHAT: Christopher Zarr with a talk on Exploring the 1940 US Census
WHEN: Saturday, May 14 @ 10 a.m.
WHERE: The meeting opens at 10:00 a.m. at the Aldersgate United Methodist
Church, 600 Broadway, Dobbs Ferry, NY.
The 1940 Census will be made publicly available in April of 2012. Taken
during the Great Depression and the New Deal and on the brink of US involvement
in WWII, the 1940 Census documents Americans during a time of national
struggle. This workshop will describe the genealogical information that can be
uncovered in this document.
Christopher Zarr serves as the Education Specialist for the National
Archives at NYC. Prior to joining NARA, he was a high school history teacher in
East Hanover, NJ. He graduated from Rutgers University with a BA in History
and Political Science and a M.Ed in Social Studies Education.

Controlling Your Genealogy Computer Files
The CTFAIRFI Mailing List is an e-mail list for genealogical research of Farifield County Connecticut. We are interested in any time period and all surnames pertaining to this geographic area.
The purpose of the CTFAIRFI Mailing List is to band together those who research the Fairfield County Connecticut geographic area, so that we can share experiences, examine sources, give advice, make suggestions that others may find the information they are seeking.
This is a discussion area for anyone who has an interest in Fairfield County Connecticut genealogy and family history including migration patterns, immigration, historical sketches, census data, wills, family Bibles, vital records, web sites, etc. Experienced genealogists as well as 'newbies' are encouraged to contribute to and participate in this list.
