I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as that of Emmanuel & Lulu
BEECHER which was taken at the Lachman Studio in Pottstown, Pennsylvania.
The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's with the couple
likely in their 20's at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I
was able to locate the following information regarding this couple:
Emanuel Herr BEECHER was b. 18 Nov 1870 or 1871 in Pottstown, PA to parents
William BEECHER (b. 9 Sept 1811 in Hagerstown, MD - d. 27 Feb 1878 in
Pottstown, PA) and Elizabeth Mary or Mary Elizabeth SITES (b. 1843 in PA-d.
1925). Emanuel was one of 4 children born to this couple including, Martha
Herr; Bertha Mary; Emanuel Herr; and Edgar Horn BEECHER, all born in
Pottstown, PA between 1867 and 1874. This was a second marriage for William
BEECHER, having first been married to Elizabeth COLEMAN (b. abt 1821 in PA)
with whom he had 7 children, including, Mary; Rebecca; Emily; William H.;
Coleman H.; Myers C.; and Alice A. H. BEECHER, all born in PA between 1838
and 1856.
Emanuel married Lulu H. HUGHES (b. Mar 1871 in Washington DC-d. 1938) and
together they had 4 children, Emanuel Herr; William Stanley; Henry Ward; and
Elizabeth Jennie BEECHER, all born in Philadelphia, PA between 1889 and
1908. Daughter Elizabeth Jennie BEECHER was born and died 2 Jun 1908 in
Philadelphia, PA and is buried there in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Emanuel
died in Philadelphia, PA on 2 Aug 1911 and is buried in Pottstown, PA.
