Subject: [COLEMAN] COLEMAN-FAIR LINCOLN CO KY CONNECTION IN 1800's
Hoping to contact someone with extensive proven information regarding a
Daniel Coleman-Jane D Fair marriage. I'm trying to prove or disprove that a
Daniel Coleman married Jane "Dent" Fair in 1817 or later, in Lincoln Co KY.
This may have been a 2nd marriage for either Daniel or Jane. This Jane was
the d/o James Montgomery Fair & Mary Elizabeth May who lived in Hustonville,
KY. Her siblings would be William Montgomery Fair (1807), Rachel Fair (ca
1809) and Mary "Polly" Fair (1800) all born in KY. Was her middle name
"Dent" or could she possibly have been married before to someone with the
surname of Dent?
I find a Jane Coleman on the 1860 Lincoln Co census living in household #
906 next to her brother, William M Fair, living in household # 907. A
husband is not shown; what happened to him? In this Jane's home are also
George W Austin, age 27 (1833 KY), Catherine Austin, age 37 (1823 KY) and 5
Austin children. Anyone know how this Austin family might connect to Jane?
According to the book, "Lincoln Co KY," by the Lincoln Co Heritage Society,
Elizabeth May was the d/o Jacob May, Sr & Mary Elizabeth Troyer. James M
Fair was supposedly the s/o Edmund Fair and Silence Montgomery of VA. James
M was a minister at the Reformed Presbyterian Church. James M Fair &
Elizabeth May married Aug 1, 1796, probably in VA.
William M Fair married Naomi Jones; I think Rachel Fair married George
Carpenter and Mary "Polly" Fair married my ggg gfather, Matthew Busby around
1842. I believe Mary Polly may have been married before to someone named
Bingaman/Bingham/etc but no proof. Matthew & Mary Polly had a daughter in
1843, Elizabeth "Betsy" Ann Busby in Adair Co KY. After Matthew's death in
1843, Mary Polly and Betsy moved back to Lincoln Co KY and are on the 1850
census. Betsy Ann married Major Samuel Jones ca 1860. Major was the brother
of the above Naomi Jones.
Would like to either prove or disprove any of the above with documentation,
if possible. If necessary, any and all corrections would be welcome.

Jenny & Robert,
Thanks for the replies. I did find Jane in Lincoln Co in 1860 but Daniel wasn't there. I'm guessing he either died or they divorced, not sure which. Living with Jane Coleman in that 1860 census is a family with the surname of Austin...a George W Austin, Catherine Austin and several Austin children. Can't imagine who they might be or how they are related, but this George W Austin, age 17, was living with Jane's brother, William M Fair, in 1850. Must be some kind of connection there, somewhere. Anyone know how the Austin-Coleman-Fair families connect?

Just guessing I would say it was same couple. Got married twice so could have a wedding for each family.
Don't think age means anything. Anyone find him in either county in 1850/1860? Doubt age means anything.
GOOD LUCK.

Subject: [COLEMAN] DANIEL COLEMAN, b. ca 1796 LINCOLN CO KY; MARRIED JANE
FAIR IN 1852 LINCOLN CO??
Looking for someone with detailed information on Daniel Coleman, shown
above. Believe at some point he lived in both Casey Co KY and Lincoln Co KY.
I have found 2 Daniel Colemans in KY Marriage records; one married a Jane
Fair on June 30, 1852 in Lincoln Co. This Daniel is shown as age 56, born in
Lincoln Co. A town(?) called Hanging Fork is shown as residence. This data
is found in KY Marriages 1785-1979.
The other Daniel Coleman married a Jane Fair from Lincoln Co KY on July 1,
1852 with marriage shown in Casey Co KY. This Daniel was age 63, a widower,
and born in VA. What are the odds of 2 Daniel Colemans marrying a Jane Fair
from Lincoln Co one day apart and in 2 neighboring counties? This data came
from KY Marriages 1852-1914. The personal info regarding these 2 men is
definitely different. I'm soooo confused!
Trying to place this Jane Fair into the family of James M Fair & wife, Mary
Elizabeth May. James was born in VA; believe his middle name might have been
Montgomery. Mary Elizabeth was born in Maryland.
Who were the parents and family of Daniel Coleman? Any Coleman family with
ties to the Fair surname?
Paula
