Kathy,
My Colemans were in Fairfield District, SC too I think as they connected to my Pooles and Gordons there. My line of Gordons went to Franklin Co GA too.
I think those Colemans are my line so contact me personally as I do have info on some of those Colemans in Franklin Co. GA too.
I have not been to prove my Colemans but they seem to connect to the Pooles in Franklin Co. Too.

Subject: [COLEMAN] Re: COLEMAN-D Digest V03 #96
Family legend says our Coleman family was from Georgia. The only
confirmation I have so far is my 4th gr. grandparents were married 27 July 1813 in
Franklin Co., GA. Susannah Coleman born abt 1798, possibly in GA?, married
Alexander Murphy/Murphey. I feel Susannah's Coleman line ties into the Fairfield
District, South Carolina Colemans, from whom I am also descended: Elizabeth
Coleman, married George Goats. Am descended thru their son David Coleman Goats, Sr.
who married Tennessee Mary Murphy, daughter of the above Susannah & Alexander
Murphy/Murphey. Elizabeth Coleman was dau. of Robert & Elizabeth (Roe)
Coleman of Fairfield Dist. SC. Have asked this question a number of times in the
past, but have not been able to find any proof of my theory, just hunches for
now. There were other Colemans in Franklin Co., GA in the late 1700's, early
1800s. Are they related?
Thanks,
Kathy Gregory

PLEASE HELP! My great-grandmother was Altia Keen who was born in VA around 1896. She was also known as Alta Coleman at one time and even Alta Cox. I have no information about her parents or where she grew up but I do know after 1920 she married a James Thomas Lawson and they had 10 children. Maggie, Helen, Lethia, Gracie, Russell, Donald, Elliott, Jennings, Noah and Troy (Coleman). Her husband James Lawson died in 1948 so she may have married again after his death. I believe she may have married a Cox after James Lawson Death. I also have a reason to believe she died in 1974 in VA as a Cox. I have hit a brick wall with every direction I turn with this lady, she has been married several times so I have several names for her and I am trying to trace her life. If you have any information that may be able to help please e-mail me. I will be more than happy to share what little I have with anyone. Thanks in advance for your help.

Greetings all listers from Toronto, Canada.
I am interested in contacting any descendant or researcher of:
1. WILLIAM COLEMAN marriage to ELIZABETH GRINTER, in Hinton St. George, Somerset, England, in 1749 and
2. GILES SYMONDS' marriage to ANNE COLEMAN, in Merriott, Somerset, England, in 1771.
I am a direct descendant of both of these marriages.
Peter Ferreira, from Toronto, Canada.
I am interested in learning more, and exchanging, information about the
family of Simeon (aka Gilbert) Coleman (b. abt 1818 1820 in NY) and Amanda
M. Boyer (born abt 1819 in NY). Their children include:
Margaret, born about 1841 in NY
Albert, born about 1842 in NY
?Ellesif?, a male born about 1844 in NY
Sarah, born about 1846 in NY
Polly/Mary, born about 1848 in NY
Clarissa/Clara, born 1850 in Illinois (my great-grandmother)
Fred E., born about 1861 in Wisconsin
Learning *where* they were born in New York would be a great help.
