Can anyone make a connection for all the Colemans in MO in the 1800's?
My Colemans are from Pemiscot County, MO the earliest one George J. (or I. not sure - it's from the 1870 census) he was born in VA around 1842 - but can't come up with parents names. A suggestion that he could be Robert N. Coleman's son George Turner Coleman born 1845 but I can't find anything to prove or disprove.
1870 census in Pemiscott County, MO -
George J. Coleman 28 Farmer born in VA
Elizabeth 27 born in TN
George W. 4 (M)
Zelia L. 3 (F)
Lea A. (M) 1 month
Can anyone shed light on this line? So many Coleman's - I'm thinking they must be related somehow!
Thanks for any help you can give!!

Looking for any Coleman family members who lived in Port Jervis, Orange
County, New York. This family lived in New York City in the 1860's -
relocated to Port Jervis sometime during the railroad boom. First concrete
evidence they lived in Port Jervis is from the Port Jervis 1880 - 1881 City
Directory and subsequent editions.
Port Jervis is located right in the Tri-State Areas of New York, New
Jersey, & PA. In it's heyday Port Jervis was a booming railroad town.
Names I am looking for are:
Theodore R. Coleman
Sarah A. Palmer Coleman
Theodore Wallace Coleman (aka: Wallace, Wally, & T.W)
R. William Coleman (aka: William)
Carrie Coleman - married Mantbal or similar spelling
Walter Coleman
Willis E. Coleman
According to Theodore Wallace Coleman's obituary, he was survived by
brother William of LA, California (1933) and sister Carrie. Any leads or
information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Jane - I looked up Patrick on the 1881 Cheshire census and found-
Patrick Labourer aged 58 born Ireland
Helen '' 55 '' ''
Dennis Salt Boiler '' 23 unmarried , born Northwich Cheshire
Sarah '' 16 '' ''
''
Mary may have been married by then
Their address was 60, Regent Street, Moulton, Chehire
Do you live in UK? I am in North Wales not far from Cheshire and know
Northwich a 'bit'. On the census alot of Irish Colemans in Cheshire came
from Mayo. I am looking for info on my gtx2 Geandfather James Coleman born
around same time as yours, in Ireland, who moved to Manchester. Do you want
to get in touch if your not inUk as I could perhaps do a bit more hunting
for you.
Regards Gill Rice
I'm looking for any info on my gg grandfather Patrick Coleman - born approx 1829 in Ireland (don't know where) He was RC - and I think from nr. Cork - although this is a guess.

The Wes Coleman book was very interesting. There was a Stephen Coleman
listed. Does anyone have any more info on him?
I am looking for my ggggrandmother, Lucretia Coleman. She was born maybe
1800 and died before 1830. She married my ggggrandfather in Pulaski Co. GA
but apparently they drifted south into Dooly Co. Dooly Co. unfortunately is
a burned co.
My ggggrandfather had a couple of deeds recorded in Pulaski Co. Stephen
Coleman was a witness on both of them. There was also a Thomas Coleman on
one. The only Coleman in the 1820 Pulaski Co. census was John Coleman. He
had 2 males and 1 female living with him. (My ggggrandparents were in 1820
Pulaski Co. census also).
Does anyone have a Coleman family of S. GA with Lucretia, Stephen & Thomas?
My family later moved to Thomas Co. GA There is a Charity Coleman in the
1860 Thomas Co. census living with a Wellis family. She is listed as the
mother-in-law. She could be the widow of Stephen or Thomas.
Thanks,
Karen
I am trying to determine the parents of a William Coleman (b. 3 Sept. 1826).
He immigrated from the Sussex region in England to Ontario on the British Tar
in 1834, traveling with his uncle George Coleman and family. From Canada he
moved on to Chicago before heading to Jackson County, KS, where he died in
1875. He was married to Mary Elliott (b. 14 Feb. 1832/ d. 26 Jan. 1911. They
are buried in Denison, KS.

Today, I found an e-mail message from Elsi which I'm hoping will put me
in touch with anyone who might be searching Colemans in Connecticut and
Massachusetts during 1700's and 1800's.
I have data which tells me my husband's Coleman families were living in
Colchester, New London County, CT., Toland Co., CT, Windham Co., CT during
the 1700 and 1800's.
Dan, Pauline, Enoch, Harriet M., William H. and Sam A. were all listed in
1850 Census, Tolland Co., Town of Mansfield, CT. There were also Colemans
listed in the 1850 Massachusetts Census for Plymouth County and Worcester
County.
My husband's father, Warren Francis Coleman, was born East Bridgewater,
Plymouth Co., MA, Feb 17, 1895. His father was George Brinton McClellan
Coleman, was born West Ashford, Windham Co., CT, Nov 4, 1864. His father
was Enoch Coleman.
I have more data on these and other family members. Does anyone
recognize these Colemans?

Does anyone have information as to a Sarah Coleman who was living in
Hunterdon Co., NJ, when she married Obadiah Evans in 1772 in Amwell Twp.,
Hunterdon Co., NJ. On their marriage return it states she lived in Amwell
Twp., Hunterdon Co., NJ. Obadiah Evans was born in 1749, so I believe Sarah
would have been born in the mid 1750s. Below Obadiah's signature on the
marriage return is that of Jacob Johnson, whom I would like to know about.

I see that it's time to remind folks about how the list works.
When you want to send a message that all the subscribers will see, you need
to address it to Coleman-L(a)rootsweb.com Use that address for posting
even if you receive the digest form of the list mail. You need to also put
a Subject in your note -- and try to make it meaningful.
To unsubscribe, send a new note (not a reply or forward) to
Coleman-L-request(a)rootsweb.com if you're receiving each message in a
separate note. If you're receiving the digest (multiple messages in a
single note), send your unsubscribe request to
Coleman-D-request(a)rootsweb.com In either case, put the word 'unsubscribe'
(without the quotes) in the subject and body of the note.
The -request address is a black hole if you aren't subscribing or
unsubscribing. Messages sent to that address will probably not be seen again.
If you need help, you can contact the list administrator at
Coleman-admin(a)rootsweb.com
That's it. Simple instructions, but if you forget, go to
http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/c/coleman.html for detailed
directions.

The "Descendants of Robert Coleman of Nansemond County Virginia, 1684-1930"
has been updated as of today, Sept 12, 2002 to include more than double the
previous number of chapters and to incorporate all of those mentioned in Cy
Yarborough's excellent research work, "The Colemans of North Hamilton County
Tennessee" dated roughly 1988. There are 593 named, direct descendants of
Robert Coleman in my book online today.
References for every scrap and tidbit of information I could glean over the
years is painstakingly documented in the references file and noted by a
hyperlink at the end of the section attributed.
The earlier chapters are also containing a number of random notes taken from
a variety of sources. These "notes" contain the reference but are not
properly summarized in my own words, are not entered into the references
file, and are not hyperlinked at this point. That will change as I get
time, but they are there because I became aware of the information in one of
many searches and did not want to loose track of it. So, the situation is
rather awkward, but temporary. Now, with this major update complete in many
other aspects and now online as of today, I intend to properly incorporate
the relevant information from these "notes", as time permits.
The book is presented without any name index, but begins with a table of
contents outlining the content of what is presented today. In order to
perform a search of the entire work, you may want to download the entire
work as a single file. This is provided from the homepage.
I find the need to compare different chapters side-by-side from time to
time. This is provided for by the two and three column frames offered from
the homepage as well.
This group of Colemans has a migration pattern through these locations:
Nansemond County Virginia
Edgecombe County North Carolina
Robeson and Columbus County North Carolina
Craven County South Carolina
Georgetown District South Carolina
Fairfield County South Carolina
Bledsoe, Sequatchie and Hamilton Counties of Tennessee
Bibb and Greene County Alabama
Madison County Arkansas
Thanks for asking and good luck to all Coleman researchers.
