Hi Listers,
As I was looking for my family members, I found this family living
about 5 blocks from my COLEMAN family in Phila., PA. I don't know if they
are distant cousins. Maybe someone out there lost their Kentucky to
Philadelphia Mr. COLEMAN. If so, here is his wife and children who were all
born in PA.
Living at 2120 S. Hancock in Philadelphia
Marion COLEMAN - head of house - looks like age 24 - unemployed - father born
in England - mother born in Delaware - married (but husband isn't listed with
them, maybe she's a widow and the enumerator made a mistake)
Lillian - daughter - age 4 and a half - born in PA.
William - son - age 3 and a half - born in PA.
Marion - daughter - age 2 years and 2 months - born in PA.
Elizabeth - age 9 months - born in PA.
My COLEMAN tree that has been pieced together so far is as follows...some of
the dates may be off. I have yet to confirm them.

Of course put www. in front of the URL. If I do it, it will just send some
confusing gibberish to some of you.
To all the Coleman's out there on this list.
I have a mystery here and I'm hoping that you can help. I'm searching
for the family of Anna COLEMAN born 1873 in NJ. On her marriage
certificate it says that her parents were Harrison COLEMAN and Eliza
DORLAND. I cannot find Harrison COLEMAN anyplace. Let alone prove that
they are the parents of Anna COLEMAN. Does anyone have a Harrison in
their family line? Anna not Annie is my grandmother's name. Actually
its been written Miss Anna COLEMAN. Thank you for listening. MELVA
Hi Everyone,
I'm having a rather difficult time trying to get information on my Coleman
line, so I thought I might give you all a shout and see if it connects
(somehow) to anyone else's line here. I've tried Ancestry.com, the SSDI,
and dug years of Florence newspapers to find.. well, nothing, to be honest.
What information I've gotten has been from my father; I have yet to turn up
anything (..at all..) on the net to validate that my ancestors even existed.
I believe the line to be centered (for the most part) in and around the
Carolinas (specifically Florence or Darlington, South Carolina.)
My ggfather was "Charles David Coleman", and information about him is kind
of sketchy... I haven't been able to verify it through any census lists,
birth death or marriage lists, anything.
I'm told he was born in Florence, SC (or Darlington) and married "Seretha
'Molly' Cook" (who had a brother, Pete Cook) and they had 4 sons and 3
daughters:
- Charles 'Charlie' David Coleman m. Seretha 'Molly' Cook
- James 'Jammie' Perrin Coleman
- Leon Blease Coleman (my gfather) - born May 26, 1912
- Roger Coleman
- Rodney Bradshaw Coleman (my father)
- Claud Gary Coleman
- Edward Frank Coleman
- Ollie Mae 'Polly' Coleman
- Florrie 'Flo' Coleman -m- Fulton ?
- Constance Anne Coleman -m- Jack McQuaid
I don't have much else to go on, unfortunately. My father has a set of dog
tags for Jammie, so we can verify that at one time he did live in Florence,
SC (we even have an address.) We're checking with the national guard
musuem here in Austin to see if we can get any additional information that
way.
Other tidbits:
We have a 'family rumor' that Charles (or his father) was at one time the
Sheriff (of Darlington county?).
We have another story that my gfather's middle name was taken from a good
friend at the time (last name 'Blease'), and that this friend also named HIS
son with our last name. His son later went on to become the governor of
South Carolina ("Coleman Livingston Blease"); I can certainly find plenty of
information about him.
Lastly, we have a rumor that somewhere up the chain from Charles David, my
great-great..? grandfather was an immigrant from Ireland (or maybe England,
Scotland, or Wales, details sketchy here) that came over on a ship as an
indentured servant, and jumped ship when he spotted land to run off and hide
somewhere in the Carolinas.
So thats what I've got to start with.. any help (at all!) would be
appreciated, even ideas where to begin the search. I've tried the 'normal
avenues' through Ancestry.com and not come up with much.
Thanks for your time and consideration,
J Todd Coleman

Hey everyone!
For those of you who don't already know, transcriptions of the 1880 US
Census, 1881 British census and the 1881 Canadian Census are online for free
and they are searchable! You can find them at...

Can anyone help me with a John and Esther Coleman in Los Angeles around 1950 - John (my great uncle)was the son of George and Mattie (Martha) Coleman and he was born in Cottonwood Point, Pemiscot County, Missouri in 1897. He committed suicide at his home in 1953. I am searching for information about him - did he have children? He and his brother - Clay Coleman -(my grandfather) lost contact with each other after WWI. Please - all I have is a death cert. and it doesn't tell me anything except that he was married to Esther Coleman and worked for the public schools.
Thank you in advance for anything anyone can do!

Does anyone have a Edmond Coleman in their line. In 1910 census I have him in AR, Mississippi County, age 4 - father George Coleman. I can find no other information about him.
Thank you in advance for any help!!

Does anyone know for sure who were the parents of
Frances Coleman, who married John Paine of
Spotsylvania Co., VA? She was born ca 1710, and died
after 1771 in Spotsylvania Co. She and John had six
known sons, John, Thomas, George, William, Barnett,
and Robert. Most of the children eventually settled
in western North Carolina. I have seen a lot of
speculation on her lineage, but I still have problems
with a lot of the information.

Looking for information on Washington Lee Coleman and his parents.
Washington Lee Coleman was born April 26, 1822, one census
says birthplace was Tennessee, another says Kentucky, most
likely his birthplace was Kentucky. He died 12/16/1904 in Meade
County, Kentucky, where he lived most of his life. His second wife
was Lucy Ellen Dodds, with whom he had 10 children, one of which was
my gg-grandfather, George Washington Coleman (B. 1857 - D. 1937).
Washington's parents were Daniel Coleman and Mary (?), who were
born most likely in Virginia and migrated to Hardin/Meade County
Kentucky area before 1820. I have quite a bit of information on
Washington Lee, but almost nothing on his parents. Any other info
about his parents or other siblings would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian Coleman

Hi everyone! My homepage URL is listed at the end of this post.
I am looking for info on the following families from Lancashire,
England. COLEMAN, HARLING, EAVES/EYVES and any families that married into
them.
My great grandfather was James COLEMAN. He was born in Liverpool
1880-1881. He was raised in an orphanage from a young age when his father
died... supposedly at sea. His marriage certificate shows that his father
was also named James COLEMAN. My g grandfather married Fanny HARLING in
December 1906. He enlisted in Canada to fight with England in World War I.
If James was indeed born in 1880, then the only family that it could
be is the following that was found in the 1881 census...
102 Tatlock St., Liverpool, Lancashire

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------
Fanny HARLING was the daughter of John HARLING and Annie EAVES. John
HARLING was born in Caton in 1864 according to his naturalization papers. He
was the son of Elizabeth HARLING. I don't know if HARLING was her married or
maiden name.
Annie EAVES was born in Hamilton/Hambleton in 1863 and was the
daughter of John EAVES and Anne, last name unknown. Annie's siblings were
Thomas-born 1868, Ellen-born 1871 and John born 1874 in the Barrow in
Furness, Robert born 1877 in Baycliff and Percival born 1879 in Stainton.
John EAVES as born in 1838 in Hamilton/Hambleton and Anne was born
1837 in Goosnargh. John EAVES was the son of Thomas EAVES born 1815 in
Hamilton and Mary FLETCHER. John had a sister Margaret born 1843. The line
goes all the way back to 1445 from there with a ton of thanks to David EAVES.
If anyone has a connection or any info I would love to hear from you.
Take care and good luck,
Ella
