Hi I know this is a shot in the dark but I am looking for Colemans in Collin Co Tx or Denton Co Tx late 1800's to early 1900's (abt 1935-45) I am trying to help my ex-sister-in-law find her family. Her father she barely knew. His name is Bruce Coleman. I think it was Donald Bruce Coleman or Robert Bruce Coleman. He was married to her mother Dorothy White but Dorothy was called Sue. My friend is interested in finding her family tree--that is all. She has had little contact with her father in her lifetime. She is abt 40 now. If anyone connects to this family I would appreciate hearing from you. Oh yes I believe he has married twice since he divorced her mother and he works on off shore drilling rigs. All help greatly appreciated. Thanks Glitz
Hi,
I have found my George W. Coleman in 1900 census -Cottonwood Point, Pemiscott County Missouri.
Now I'm searching for his fathers name. George Coleman was a very well educated man (went to college)
he was born in 1867 in Missouri, his father was born in VA and mother in TN. George was a farmer in
the "Delta" part of Missouri. My mother remembers that there was a Coleman lawyer related to the family
somehow. Also a Aunt Rilla and a Aunt Bet Foster. Does anyone have bells ringing? Missouri has so
few records that I can find here in AR. Thanks in advance for any help.
Good Searching,
Donna Herring Eades

I had read the email by Elsi dated October 27 20012...
The problem is actually a paradox. Please review and see te way. We have
actually various stages of areas we know well and not in others. If you are
NEW to the computer, you wont know about Coleman websites ever exist do you?
Some of us even never know the rate the genealogy goes with the internet? I
did see the early startings back in 1985, plenty to write long programs we
had o do by keyboard... letter by letter, number by number, nd a very dizzy
array pf the long combinations that makes your heads spin rapidly, nd ah
penty of awkward bugs we had to stomp on in running them. We take the
genealogical cmputering for granted now...
Im gonna put my maternal.Iley Coleman of Memphis Tenn from Monck's Corner SC
from Amelia Co Va from Chares City Co and some say Isle of Wight co Va ...
soon so watch my space in the future. I know well by another from Glouchester
Co Va to Orange Co Va by Todd another on my maternal side too.
I have signed on to this list temporariily to post this notice. If you know
of these people, or know who is related to them, please let me know.
I have two 8x10 photos of the baptism of a COLEMAN baby boy in August, 1945
on Catalina Island, California. The men in the photo were serving in the US
Maritime Service there. In the pictures are four people I assume were his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. COLEMAN, and godparents, a Lt. Commander PERRY, and an
unidentified woman, as well as my father, who was the Protestant Chaplain for
the Maritime base. Mr. Coleman was evidently an officer, too, although in
the photo I cannot see his stripes to tell what his rank was.
I will send them to any relatives who want them.

Some of the free web sites require an 'invitation' to view. It's not as
simple as just posting a URL and letting people drop in. AOL and
myFamily.com are two of the places that let you set up a 'family' site, but
where your information is not available except to invited & registered users.
This list has an official web site at
http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~lcompton/coleman/ --- right now it has very
little information except help in subscribing or unsubscribing from the list.
I'll be glad to add anything that you folks want -- links to family trees,
photos, etc. Just let me know what we should add.
Regards,
Elsi
I read the following obit in "The Herald", Miami, FL (Tues., Oct. 23, 2001 edition) which doesn't give much information BUT should we be posting these on the site when we see them?

My website is in my footer, but here it is. Take a look at the Coleman section
and let me know if any of you are connected.

I have been researching my great grandmothers Coleman

>From what I have read I can only assume that this Coleman page is posted on
myfamily.com. Myfamily.com hosts pages created by individuals but others can
only access the information by being invited and given a password. The
original intent of the website seemed to be to offer a place to connect for
actual families, i.e. siblings, parents, grandparents, cousins etc. with no
limit on the number of individuals who can be invited. It appears lately
that the website is being used for surname information posting and not just
to keep relatives in touch with each other.
