Please check all records for a Coleman man born around 1823, TN. I am
searching for my great great grandfather Joshua C. Coleman, I have found
several names used referring to him Jess, Jesse, John, Jacob, James, and
Jack. I have Jack for a nickname. He was married 2 times 1st wife Sarah Ann
Bird or Byrd mar. 1840 Bedford CO TN. 2nd wife was Jane Floyd Bearden. He
had a large family. Please help his family learn about his ancestors.
Alicia
Hi List,
1910 census records in Ofuskee Co., OK show that my grandfather CHARLES
COLEMAN's parents, ISAIAH and MARGARET A. COLEMAN, came from HOLLAND.
However, Canadian records where they lived in Ameliasburgh, Prince Edward Co,
Ontario, show them to have been born in Ontario. Is there anyone else on
this list who has heard of any COLEMANS coming from Holland? I don't know if
this was a mistake or not. What do you think? Rose Mary Romur2(a)aol.com

Hi have been watching this list for quite some time now but haven't seen any
messages about my branch of Coleman's. My ggggggrandfather was ALMOND COLEMAN
married to Bethia Homer. I think he was born in Hubbardston, Massachusetts
March 11, 1813. Is there anyone else out there researching this family?
Linda
Richard, By all means compare notes about your Ellison Coleman!! What
other Coleman's do you have? Peace. Barb in FL

Does anyone have any idea how many Colemans came to the Colonies? I can only
find my family back to ILL/NC but there are several that ended up in Indian
Territory/OKLA.
Wondering if this was one or two families connected or many that started the
US Coleman family
Re-posting this request again...does anyone have any idea
whatsoever...about any of the first names of Colemans going
to New Brunswick or Nova Scotia...during the 1800's...
..I am still trying to locate the parents of a Charles
Coleman who married a Thirza Mahal Odell..
.to no avail...I do know that Thirza was the third daughter
of a David Odell....we were told they were all from
Portland,New Brunswick...but none of them are showing up on
any census'...but there marriage has been
validated....rumours through family is that they may have
come from Maine., Massechusetts....
thanks for any possible name suggestions I could follow up
on..

I posted a message concerning Jess' death so that those of you
corresponding with him would know why you hadn't heard from him. Never
in my wildest dreams did I expect the response I got to this message.
I've always known that God works through people--and he has certainly
been using all of you.
I'm extremely active in my church and several other organizations; Jess
was a Mason and a Shriner. We've lived in this house ( with the
exception of a long sojourn in Louisiana ) since 1966 and have wonderful
neighbors. I'm just surrounded by loving, caring people. We had a
perfectly beautiful memorial service at the church followed by Masonic
rites--Jess' ashes were buried in Temple, Texas in the Coleman family
plot. There were so many people there, and I feel very loved. This
response really did not surprise me.
Jess and I were new to the Internet, beginning last March. I kind of
always had the feeling that technology took away so much of the personal
touch, and that many people didn't connect with each other any more.
NOT SO! I feel more connected than ever with this huge, extended family!
Thank you all so much for all your messages.
Sincerely, Leslie Coleman in San Diego.
I KNOW LITTLE OR NOTHING ABOUT MY COLEMAN FAMILY:
My mother was adopted but her natural name was COLEMAN. Her father was
CHARLES COLEMAN B 1877 in Ameliasburgh, Prince Edward, Ontario, Canada. He
migrated to Oklahoma around 1896. He married IDA TENNYSON, b 1892 (about) in
Ark. and had four children, all born in Okema (Ofuskee Co.), Oklahoma. He
had a marriage prior to his marriage to IDA. There was a daughter, LILLY
COLEMAN B 1907. I don't know who her mother was or where she was born but
I'm sure it was in the U.S.
I believe (but am not positive) CHARLES COLEMAN'S parents were: ISAIAH
COLEMAN and MARGARET A. I don't know where they were born but they lived in
Prince Edward, Ontario, Canada. They had other children: WILLIAM W. B circa
1872, ARTHUR B 1875, and BESSIE B 1878.
Any help with regard to this family would be most appreciated or any
suggestions on how to trace them. Thank you.
Trying again,
Any info or connections with the following Coleman would be appreciated...

I see the name Ellison Coleman coming up several times lately, I believe out
of NC and TN. There was an Ellison Coleman and a Richard Ellison Coleman in
mid-1800 Maryland history. Richard Ellison Coleman migrated to IL. To me,
the name Ellison is unusual. Am I right? Or wrong?? Should those of us with
Ellisons compare notes, or should we cool it? DICK COLEMAN (in OH via MD and
PA.)
I am researching John Coleman found in the 1830 Washington Co., VA census.
I am hoping he is my gggg grandfather.
The census lists him as John Coalman with 1 male 5-10, 1 male 10-15, 1 male
40-50, 1 male 50-60, 1 female 0-5, 2 females 5-10, 1 female 15-20, and 1
female 40-50 living in his household.
This matches with two siblings that I know of so far:
Son John Coleman born 1817 in VA and daughter Sarah A. born 1825.
Son John Coleman and his wife moved to Sullivan Co., TN around 1837-1838 and
had 10 children.
Does anyone have any information on the John Coleman in the 1830 census, the
John Coleman born 1817 in VA, or his sister Sarah A. born 1825?
Thank you very much,
Susan Coleman Colvin

I am asking for information on all Coleman families that came from Ireland,
Scotland to USA to VA, NC, SC then to TN to AR OK and TX I am interested in
