As a special tribute to the 4th of July holiday coming up, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all veterans a safe and happy day, and to say thank you for what you gave to our country.
I would also like to invite all of you to go to my webpage and browse thru the long list of names of those in my families who served this country in times of conflict since prior to the Revolutionary War. I am very proud to make the Veteran's Honor Roll a special part of my webpage.

I haven't posted for a long time, maybe there are new members or new
information.
My grandfather was Arthur LeRoy Coleman, he was born in Batavia, Iowa in
1887, He had a brother Fred, and a sister Florabelle. he grew up in an
orphanage, his parents divorced when the children were very young and all
three were placed. Forabelle was adopted out soon, as she was just a baby.
Grandpa, as I understand it, ran away from the orphange and went to
Minnesota. Uncle Fred spent his years in Ottumwa Iowa, where he died in the
early 1970's. his wife's name was Myra. Grandpa died in 1973 in Newport,
Washington.
Now for the problem: I know grandpa's parents were William Coleman and Ida
Laudrick (spelling?). That is all I know. I tend to think I heard grandpa
say something about Missouri also, possibly his parents were from there.
Also Arkansas rings a bell. i think I heard somewhere that is father,
William, remarried and had more children, but am not sure about that. i dont
think his mother ever remarried. i have heard she had some mental problems,
was a very mean lady. My mother remembered seeing her when she was little,
and said she was very mean. I have even seen a picture of her, and i think i
saw one picture of William.
Anyways, would appreciate any info anyone might have.
Thanks much

I am looking for information on ALMOND COLEMAN born abt 1813, married to
BETSEY SUSANNA BROWN abt 1840 in Templeton, MA. They lived in Hubbardston,
MA. They had a son, OLIVER B. COLEMAN married to ELLEN ELIZABETH MOORE and
AMY JOHNSTON. Hope someone can help with some information. Oliver is my
great-great grandfather.
We've heard the story of the 7 brothers who went "west" - all having names starting with "J." (Scotch-Irish??) My James (1) COLEMAN was Scotch-Irish and headed west with his brothers, but dropped off to marry Nancy Ann_____.
Alicia - You have Joshua (b. 1723) and Sally Bird. Nancy COLEMAN living with them (census of 1850, Bedford Co., TN) was 66 (b. in SC) so very well could have been his mother.
My James COLEMAN and Nancy Ann _____ who gave birth in Orange Co. North Carolina in Oct. 1799 could have been Joshua's parents also. She would have had my James (2) at about 15-16 yrs old, but lord knows the women had children throughout their entire child bearing years and 39 was not to late to still be having babies! My couple headed "west" about 1804-05. (Possibly Bedford County???)
Barb - You have a Jordan COLEMAN and Nancy Anderson married in 1809. Possibly these are all brothers??? (Or - - was Jordan dead and your Nancy COLEMAN living with the above Joshua by 1850??????)
Do either of you know if your "J" COLEMAN'S passed through SC or NC "west?"
Does this look familiar or follow a pattern for anyone else out there??? (Bedford Co., TN??)"
My son of James and Nancy Ann _________ (also named James COLEMAN) shows up in Knox Co. in 1820 when he marries. He married Parthenia KNOTT. I did see some KNOTT'S in Bedford Co. info. Possibly James (2) left the flock in Bedford Co. and went to Knox Co. since Parthenia's father did give them land there.
This is long, but just thought maybe someone else may see a connection. - Linda Coleman
Listed in Talladega Co., Alabama
in the 1850 census with his second wife Martha

It list children:
Henry N. Coleman age 20
Jana Coleman (Jane) age 9
Holly Coleman ( Hulda Lindsey Coleman ) age 5
Daniel A. Coleman age 1
then list Martha's children by another marriage
Nancy Hill

It is said that Henry moved his family to Texas after this time.
Can anyone shed some light on this family...... Please......any help
appreciated
His children with 1st wife were:
Juliann Coleman b- 1817 married Joseph Shockler
Elizabeth Coleman b- 1819 married Robert Taylor
Thomas Warren Coleman b- 1821 married Mary Jane Mahan
Isaac Jorden Coleman b- 1823 married Mary Ann McClung
Moses Kiel Coleman b- 1825 married Nancy McCain -moved AR
Henry Warren Coleman b- 1830 who died in civil war
I do not know where Henry Coleman b- 1796, is burried but is said he died
December of 1865
Just waiting for some break through from somone decendent.. Looking forward
to hearing from you ... Mary in California
I located my Joshua Coleman and wife Sally Bird on a photo of a 1850 census
of Bedford CO TN at Genealogy.Com. Their 4 children were listed Henry age 9
[my list has name John] Joshua age 6 [my list has Riggs] Eliza 4 [my list
has Catherine] William 2[ my gr grandfather William Samuel] AND Nancy
Coleman age 66 born in SC. If she is Joshua's mother she had him when she
was 39, was that old for childbirth in 1823? If she is James Coleman mother
she was 15 when he was born. Could she be Joshua's grandmother? I am open
for conversation.Information please. I don't have any ideals of maiden name.

Hi All,
Seeking info on Seaton Lorenzo Coleman born abt. 1793 Ireland. Came to MD unknown date. He married Mary "Polly" Parrish, who was born in MD and daughter of Willaim Parrish. She had a sister , Susan who married a Daniel Coleman born abt. 1784 ?? I do not know if there was a connection between Seaton and Daniel, other than that of brother's in law. Both families moved to Greenbrier and Fayette Co. Va. {WV} in the early 1800's. Seaton is believed to have been in Va., perhaps the Amherst or Giles Co. Va. area at one time.
If anyone recognizes any of these names and can help with this family line, I would be glad to hear from you and exchange info.
Thanks in advance , for your time and help!!

I'll run my COLEMAN given names by one more time in hopes of snagging a
nibble on the line.
Philip had four sons: John, Philip, Jr. (my line), David and I believe George
according to a Bible account that I have. I have not located George.
Philip came out of Somerset/Bedford CO., PA and from Brothers Valley in
particular as cited in a PA historical writing. He went to Warren CO for a
brief time and on to Perry CO., OH where he later died.
His son Philip married Nancy HORN and had four children: John, David, Harriet
and another daughter whose name escapes me right now. Harriet, my ancestor,
was b. in 1838, married Josiah PETTY and remained on the PETTY farm until
shortly prior to her death in early 1900s.
Any help on the ancestry of Philip, Sr. would be most appreciated. Where
were these COLEMANS prior to coming to PA. Any hints from anyone. Perfectly
willing to share data on descendants.
Thank you.
Marjory A. Austen

I am looking for my Coleman relatives so that I can share and exchange
family history.
My ggg grandfather was John Coleman born 1816 in VA and died 1872 in TN.
John had 10 children. Three of the sons, William, James, and Frances
(Frank) moved from TN with the Samuel Feltner family to Washington Co.,
Indiana. They later moved to Harrison Co., IN and built a log house.
Samuel Feltner's wife Sarah A. Coleman Feltner was the boys' aunt.
I am related directly to James Coleman and his wife Frances Jane Martin.
They had 13 children.
Is anyone related to this branch of the Colemans?
Susan Coleman Colvin
Haven't seen any connection to my Colemans, but hope someone has come across
this line and can help me out.
James Coleman (my ggg-grandfather), born late 1700's, location unknown. Was
a farmer in Virginia when Robert James was born, later moved to west
Tennessee in 1836. Married Nancy Brown on December 25, 1811. Nancy was
born in King and Queen County, Virginia.
Robert James Coleman (my gg-grandfather) was born December 6, 1817 in
Mecklenburg County, Virginia. Don't have any info on any siblings. He
married Martha Ann Tanner on October 14, 1837. There is quite a bit written
about Robert James in "A History of My Life as a Baptist Minister", which
was a book he wrote himself at the request of the Arkansas Baptist State
Convention. Their children were:
James Henry, b. 1839 in Tennessee
Ann Eliza, b. 1841 in Tennessee
David, b. 1843 in Arkansas
Levi Woodbury (my g-grandfather), b. July 31, 1845 in Princeton, Arkansas
Mary Salome, b. 1847 in Arkansas
Medora Elizabeth, b. 1850 in Arkansas
Roberta, b. 1852 in Arkansas
William L. G., b. 1854 in Arkansas
Bertie Alice, b. 1858 in Arkansas
Joanna, b. ? in Arkansas
Levi Woodbury Coleman married Mary Belle Buckner on September 30, 1875.
Their children were:
Vi Belle, b. July 11, 1876 in Fannin County, Texas
Medora Maggie (my grandmother), b. February 14, 1878 in Woodlawn, Dallas
County, Texas
Roberta Martha, b. Apr 19, 1883 in Dallas County, Texas
Mabel Goode, b. Jan 25, 1886 in Uvalde, Texas
Robert Buckner, b. May 20, 1888 in Dallas, Texas
Levi Woodbury, Jr., b. Oct 17, 1893 in Dallas, Texas
I'm hoping someone has come across this line and can give me some
information on James and Nancy, their parents, etc., as I have hit a brick
wall so far.
Thanks,
Dave

I finally remembered to look up the PERKINS in the index of my COLEMAN
book. Are you a grand daughter of Henry C> PERKINS and Ester Marie
CHILLCOTE,
b. 25 Jul 1894? IF so I need your lineage and Henry's family also for my
book.
In fact if you would I would like to mail you all I have on Nancy
COLEMAN
and Robert CHILACOATE/ CHILCOAT's line.
