For those of you looking for the parents of the subject Margaret, wife
of 1st Peter KIEFFER/COOPER and 2nd Andrew FEASTER, I found the
following will:
Lancaster County
Mary 23, 1764 February 12, 1770
FRY, John
Wife: Dorothea
Children: John, Jacob, and Margaret wife of Peter KEEFER.
Ex: George ARNOLD and Frederick SHAND
Lancaster Borough
I haven't seen this information elsewhere, so I can only trust that it's
some good news!!! I don't know if the will was written in 1764 and
proved in 1770 or if he died in 1764 and probate was accomplished in
1770.

If anyone has access to the 1840 Jackson County, VA Census, could they please
lookup Benjamin Coleman for me? He should be about 30 years old. While the
1840 Census will not list any other names except head of household, I believe
that he was married to either Sarah Meglochlen or Nancy Fisher. Thank you in
advance for any information you may have or any guidance you may render. I
look forward to reading your E-mails.
Sincerely,
Mike Peters

My brother has an old family bible with Coleman ancestors listed. Dilly Charles Coleman was our grandfather. His mother was Elizabeth McPherson .He was the sixth Dilly Coleman. While alive, he recalled that there were six brothers who came to the U. S. A. in the 1600's. We don't know who they were related to concerning U.S.A. relatives. ( perhaps not your group of Coleman's)
My grandfather's relatives settled near St. Ann's, Ontario and some near Fenwick and Wellandport, near the old Welland Canal in Ontario. His brother Allen was the post master at Wellandport. His son, Ben Coleman, was a lawyer and then a judge in Toronto, Ontario. My brothers are Dilly Charles Coleman, farm produce owner,( his sons are Shane and Ben) Harold Coleman, sister, Mary Lou Coleman Yaworksi, accountant, myself, Louise Coleman Wilson, writer and poet. 31 Frederick Avenue, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
My ggrandfather was Francis M. Coleman. He was born in Shelby County, MO on
March 25, 1856. He was married twice and had a total of 7 children all in
MO. His obit says, in part, Mr. COLEMAN was born March 25, 1856, in Shelby
County, MO, a son of FRANK and MARY STOTLEBUCK COLEMAN, natives of
Pennsylvania....Mr COLEMAN was the last of a family of five children.
Does anyone have any information on Frank Coleman or Mary Stotlebuck Coleman
from PA or any of Francis M. Coleman's siblings. I can find NO
records--cemetery, census, etc.
Thanks to all who responded to my post. I appreciate the help. Peace.

I have just begun to research my grandfather's line. I think I was
spoiled by the ease with which I researched my grandmother's family,
finding almost all the information I needed on the internet. Anyway, I
was hoping someone could help me with my grandfather's family.
His name was James Tyler Coleman, and he was born in 1874 in Glen's
Fork, Kentucky. He married Launa Hackley from Campbellsville, Taylor
County, Kentucky, and moved to St. Louis Missouri. They had three
children, Dorothy Spain Coleman, Arlowyne Hackley Coleman and Ruth Bee
Coleman, my mother. Does anyone have any information on his ancestors?
Thanks for any information.

Looking for information on my great uncle John COLEMAN b in County Mayo,
Ireland 1878. John, his mother and his siblings arrived in New York in 1895.
Some of the COLEMAN family settled in Scranton, PA with mother Winifred.
Others moved to Anaconda and Butte, Montana. John moved to Chicago where he
married and remained. Don't know spouses name, address or if they had any
children. John died in 1906 in Chicago. He is buried in Scranton, PA. Thank u

Roger, Do you have a copy of J.P. COLEMAN'S book? What is the full
title and is it still in print? Maybe there is a clue in his book
concerning my COLEMAN'S who ended up in Bedford and Lincoln CO's in TN. I
am up against the proverbial brick wall with Obediah COLEMAN, b. ca 1811.

Hi, list! I've been lurking on and off for about a year. I finally have
something to contribute.
I believe the Abner Coleman , who was recently mentioned, from SC 96th
district is
in Chambers Co. AL in 1850. I think the Colemans and Hodges left Union Co SC
and
were first in Clarke Co Georgia (formerly Franklin). At least one of them
was in Harris Co
Georgia in 1830 and from there to Chambers Co Alabama. Mary Martindale in
household
1123 was Mary Burgess from Union Co SC who first married Richard Coleman.
She is
found in Clarke Co GA in 1820 as Mary Coleman. I believe the Richard Coleman
listed
in census is her son but have yet to prove it. I am fairly certain he is my
GGgrandfather;
his wife was Levina Hodge. Their daughter Susan Coleman married John
G.(Gabriel?)
Gerald from Sumter Co SC. Their daughter, my grandmother was Alice Levira
Gerald
born in Lee Co Alabama (formerly part of Chambers Co.). Would appreciate any
help anyone could give me in linking my Colemans to any of your Colemans!

For Sue Chrisco: There was also an Abner Coleman in the very early census of
SC in the area of Spartanburg, although' it was called OLD 96 Distr. at the
time (before 1780). He had a family according to the census. I've never
figured out where he fit with all the other Coleman's in that immediate area
at that time. The rest of them all belonged to Robert Coleman and Ann
Hinton's family. THIS Robert (and there are many)! moved from Amelia Co., VA
to Lunenburg/Mecklenburg Co., VA to Old 96 Distr. between the years 1754 and
circa 1765. His sons Christopher and Robert, JR., his daughters Lucy and
Frances are quite well documented. Still in the question box are ABNER, and
Faithful(dau.) There was also at least one other Coleman family located
further south in the state at that time.
Where I live (San Diego) it's not a hoax!! And it doesn't just happen to
women. There's enough creeps on the internet, too, that would put up a web
page telling people not to be concerned.

Ladies Please READ!!!!!
I don't know if this information is true, but it seems like a good idea to
pass along.
The notice below was posted on JCPenney's e-mail to all Female Associates.
Recently on Inside Edition there was an article about several new scams to
abduct women. In one, a man comes up to a woman in a Mall or Shopping Center
and asks if she likes pizza. When she says she does, he offers her $10000 to
shoot a commercial for Pizza, but they need to go outside where the lighting
is better. When the woman goes out of the mall she is abducted and assaulted.
Another ploy is a very nicely dressed man asks a woman if she would be in a
Public Service announcement to discourage drug use? The man explains that
they don't want professional actors or celebrities; they want the average
mother to do this. Once she leaves the mall she is a victim.
The third ploy, and the most successful, a very frantic man comes running in
to the mall and asks a woman to please help him, his baby is not breathing.
She runs out of the mall following him and also becomes a victim.
These have been happening in well-lit parking areas, in daylight as well as
night time, all over the country. The abductor usually uses a van to abduct
the woman.
'Inside Edition' set up a test in a Mall and 10 out of 15 women went out of
the mall on the Pizza and the PSA scam. And all of them went out of the mall
on the baby scam. Please pass this along to your friends and family as now
that it has been shown on nationwide TV there are bound to be copycats of
this.
The third one, I think, is the scariest. You might resist pizza or becoming
a commercial celebrity...but who would be able to resist a frantic father
asking for help for his child? I'm sure that one would get me.
A woman was shopping at the Tuttle Mall in Columbus. She came out to her car
and saw she had a flat. She got her jack and spare out of the trunk.
A man in a business suit came up and started to help her. When the tire had
been replaced, he asked for a ride to his car on the opposite side of the
mall.
Feeling uncomfortable about doing this, she stalled for a while, but he kept
pressing her. She finally asked why he was on this side of the mall if his
car was on the other. He claimed he had been talking to friends. Still
uncomfortable, she told him that she had just remembered something she had
forgotten to pick up at the mall and she left him and went back inside the
mall. She reported the incident to the mall security and they went out to
her car. The man was nowhere in sight.
Opening her trunk, she discovered a briefcase the man had set inside her
trunk while helping her with the tire. Inside were rope and a butcher knife.
And, when she took the tire to be fixed, the mechanic informed her that there
was nothing wrong with her tire, that it was flat because the air had been
let out of it.
I was going to send this to the ladies only, but guys, if you love your
mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, etc., you may want to pass it on to them,
as well.
Send this to any woman you know that may need to be reminded that the world
we live in has a lot of crazies in it....better safe than sorry.
PLEASE BE SAFE AND NOT SORRY! JUST A WARNING TO ALWAYS > > > > BE ALERT AND
USE YOUR HEAD!!!
Pass this along to every woman you have access to. Never let your guard down.
SOMETIMES THAT FEELING IN YOUR GUT IS THE VOICE OF GOD. TRUST YOUR
INSTINCTS!!

In reading The Dublin Post dated 11/13/1878 there is an article under
"Johnson Items" (is Johnson in Emanuel County?) that says:
Mr. Thomas Thompkins and wife were in Wrightsville last Friday on a visit to
Mr. W. A. Thompkins. Tommy was married about two weeks ago to Mrs. Coleman
of Emanuel County.
This might give someone a wedding date re COLEMAN AND THOMPKINS.
