I am descended from Francis COLEMAN who ended up in Washington County, Alabama. I noticed that many of these same families were in the Robert COLEMAN book from VIrginia to Texas. There were more TUCKER entries which I did not have time to copy. MUNFORD and Drury STITH were also mentioned in that book. In Deed Bk3, p510, "Burgeses a pole of their Votes", one list says "Pole for Drury STITH". Robert COLEMAN was in Halifax Co, Va before moving to Fairfield Co. Hope that some of you more experienced COLEMAN researchers can shed some light on this.

I am interested in the Coleman book being discussed. Does anyone know if any
of that family settled in Canada? My grandfather, Charles Coleman, came from
Ontario, Canada. His father was Isaiah Coleman and mother was Elizabeth
Johnstone. They lived in Prince Edward, Ontario. Thank you. Rose Mary

I'm most curious about the Charles Coleman b 1793 in SC, whose family was
recently posted on the Coleman list. My Coleman family moved from VA to the
northern borders of SC in the 1760's. The move included several generations:
parents, children, and grandchildren. We have never found a thing to document
the names of all the children, but the parents, Robert Coleman and Anne
Hinton, had at least the following: Christopher, Lucy, Frances, Faith, and
Robert. Abner and Philip are also possible sons. Their names appear in the
same early census and same area...Old 96 District.
Christopher was married before 1765 in VA and had a large family. Like his
father, he apparently died intestate, denying us a list of inheritors!
Charles Coleman may be a descendant from a son in this early SC family.
Jessie,
Cy Yarborough wrote a book about Charles Coleman, b 1793 in South Carolina,
which I found years ago in a library in Chattanooga, TN. I have been
working since to update this book and have been in contact with the author a
number of times. Though yet to be proved, I believe this Charles to be the
same as Charles S. Coleman, mentioned in J.P. Coleman's book entitled "The
Robert Coleman Family from Virginia to Texas, 1652 - 1965", p 373 & 374, as
I document online at:
http://home.hiwaay.net/~colemans/genealogy.htm
or, if you prefer without the frames:
http://home.hiwaay.net/~colemans/chasscol.htm
There is an outline for (the update to) Cy's book (minus names of those
possibly living) online at:
http://home.hiwaay.net/~colemans/hamcotoc.htm
It is documented by the will of Charles Coleman, Sr. that Charles S. Coleman
is his son. A Revolutionary War widow's pension application made by Charles
S. Coleman's brother documents the fact that Charles Coleman, Sr. had a
father known as or going by the name of Cader Coleman.

I am looking for information on Mary Jane Coleman mar. to John Grant Shirley, July 28,1853 in Ohio. They had two daughters, Samantha and Flavis. Thank YOU Carol cyberdad(a)cvc.net
Hello. I am researching the Civil War regiment 4th Tennessee
Cavalry (Union), and in Co K of that regiment there were two
soldiers named JOHN McCLURE. The elder of the two was
married to ELIZABETH COLEMAN, daughter of CHARLES
WASHINGTON COLEMAN.
Both John Sr. and Elizabeth died during the War, and their
orphaned children were raised by their maternal grandfather,
according to the pension documents which I procured from the
National Archives.
I believe that the younger JOHN McCLURE was also related to this
family, as he and his mother Polly were living in the household
Benjamin Franklin Coleman. Both Benjamin Franklin and his
brother Charles Washington were living in Bledsoe Co., TN in the
1850 census. However, after the War Charles moved to DeKalb
Co, and Benjamin moved to Hamilton Co.
Following is a pedigree, some of which I got from information
previously posted in this mailing list, and the rest which I got from
census data and the NARA pension documents.

Hello to all,
Thanks to all of you for your well wishes & prayers, truly appreciated!
Feeling better everyday.
James wasn't sure how to reach those of you who know me, so he literally sent
to
just about everyone in my address book, seeing the lists as an easier way to
reach all of you. He's been so wonderful at taking care of me, I'm so
grateful.
The swelling up & down my spine finally went down, & on Wednesday James took
me to my D.O. & had everything put back into place. All the vertebres in my
neck were out, five in my back, & a dislocated pelvic. The fever turned out
to be from the swelling from the spinal injury & not the flu ; )
Feeling like such a clutz, I'll fill you in on what I
did.............................
on my side of the bed there are two very special 1920's Alderwood end tables
that belonged to my paternal Grandmother, & a folding step ladder next to the
wall, there is very little room to get in & out of there, my foot caught the
bottom of the ladder & with a stack of newspapers in hand, I went sailing
full speed to the floor. In any case, I am feeling a bit better everyday,
taking it slow.
Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things!
I hope your Thanksgiving was a grateful one, may God bless each & everyone of
you & yours.
